How much of a thorn can Notre Dame be to the playoff system?

An undefeated ND or even a 1 loss ND will almost always boot out 2 conference champs. If not, it will sure as hell create some controversy. Anytime they're 11-1 or 12-0, you can pretty much call them the 6th conference champ. This 4 team playoff is gonna be comical to watch

Likely to go to 8 team playoff. 7 games = more money

without question. But when? Thought they were stuck with 4 for certain amount of years?

I'm 100% rooting for an unbeaten Notre Dame - that'll force the hand of the NCAA to expand to an 8 team playoff which I've been arguing for since I was a child.

College football with a 8 game playoff, I don't know how to feel about that.

8 feels like it dilutes the importance of the regular season a bit to much, but I don't see any way around it.

Just seems necessary if you are going to consider conference champions a big factor

I think 4 is fine if handled correctly, but there is just gonna be way too much bitching when some teams get left out.

Why not six teams? Top two get a BYE.

I'm thinking about the long-term implications

More games, will mean more money, potentially resulting in more rules being changed.

NCAA football will eventually be a bunch of the same teams competing each year, bowl games irrelevant, and my biggest fear is players will get paid resulting in just a betting bid of who can pay the most to the best high school players.

It's already heading in that direction now.

I wish both of these loser teams would lose. Don't like either one
