That lunch looks pathetic.

They can't feed the kids enough to at least hold them off until supper?

Do they not realize that in many poor areas, a lot of kids may not get dinner?

Correct. But the standards are one size fits all.

Yep. That is the problem. I think they should focus more on whole foods and loss processed stuff rather than putting so much focus on calories.

As an upper limit. Active teenagers typically get calories outside of three meals a day, however.

You mean, like, do the work to prove our claim before we make it? Like maybe, instead of just saying that this is the 1st lady's fault because you heard she was bad and hated kids, you could like, do some work to see if your presumption is actually true? I agree. You should tell the OP to do that.

700-850 cal limit for a 17 year old boy is about as stupid as stupid gets. Especially if the kid is expected to play sports on that. It is clear as day she doesnt follow her own damn diet.

Either way - there's no fricking way the meal in the OP is even 700 calories, and no way it meets the guidelines.

These caloric guidelines come from 2005 government health recommendations, BTW.
That was really really early in the Obama Presidency.

It would be very interesting to see a picture of the menu and the typical lunch served to Michelle's kids at their prestigious Friends of Sidwell Academy or whatever their private school is called. I'm betting there are a few "minor" differences...

The OP meal does not comply with NSLP requirements.

Very interesting and not surprising in the least. Michelle = hypocrite. I'm going to rejoice when BHO leaves office, no matter WHO is elected. At least, then, he and she will both be gone and relegated to the history books.

Michelle Antoinette forces poor children to eat table scraps while her children enjoy rosemary chicken and vegetarian stuffed Portobello mushrooms. Why does she hate poor children?

So are you.

The meal depicted in the OP clearly does not meet NSLP standards.

Tuba, is that all you've got??? You make it too easy! I don't post on this forum very often, but I find it quite entertaining. And I especially enjoy reading your posts! After all this time, you still haven't figured out that you are bringing a stick to a gunfight when you post here! Keep em coming!

No. If you had bothered to read any of the posts in this thread, you would find a link to the actual NSLP guidelines which require, among other things, 1 cup of fruit and 1 cup of vegetables per lunch meal - clearly the OP meal and the meal above do not satisfy this requirement. Either the students are volunteering to put less food on their plate, or their school is violating NSLP guidelines. The minimum caloric requirement of 700 cals per lunch - clearly not met by the OP meal.

Further - the caloric requirements come from U.S. government guidelines published in 2005 (when Obama's Presidency was in its infancy, right?)

My senior year in high school I was eating 10 to 12 thousand calories a day. But I was being recruited for college football and had to gain mass.

What was bad is I never gained a fricking pound and had to play Juco instead of getting a D1 offer
