Beginner Bow

Been thinking about taking up bow hunting. I've been pro gun for so long, but my friends say that the satisfaction you get from knocking something down like an Indian is where it's at.
Thoughts on a good beginner bow? Do NOT want to break the bank here (I think I may still be partial to the gun).
Thanks

either look for a used Mathews Switchback or go get a Bear RTH package for $500

Switchbacks are starting to get pretty old. I haven't looked at prices, but I figure you could find a z7 for a decent price.

Bass Pro shops, Kronik/toxic/blackout All redhead badged bows made my diamond. All good shooters. Will need to upgrad accessories over time or right away if you choose.

Troll through Louisiana sportsman classifieds.
I'm sure you can find a decent Hoyt.

#1) Determine your dominant eye.
Test
#2) I would personally go with a Mathews Switchback XT. It is (imo) the best all around bow ever mass produced. It's quite, very forgiving, fast and compact. GREAT bow for all levels of hunters.
With that being said bow technology has advanced so much in the past decade that I would go to a local shop and shoot as many as I could. When you know, you know.
If I were you I would text the guy in the link below and low ball him a tad. 400 is a great deal for that bow and a whisker biscuit but I would offer 300-350 and try to get a better deal.
Pretty good deal.
ETA: Archerytalk.com is your friend. When I was beginning this thing was like the bible. Incredible amount of information, helpful people and really good deals.

before you try to buy a used bow that isn't adjustable without changing cams, make sure you know your draw length and search for ones that size.

The only downfall to Mathews. Measure your arms tip to tip and divide it by 2.5 that should give you a pretty damn close reading to your draw.

Bought my daughter a Quest G5 Primal. It is easy to adjust draw length and is pretty tricked out for under $400. I like slinging it as much as my Mathews Creed!

Hey bud,
I'll be using this in LA. I haven't really hunted while in ATL.

As someone else said, go on Archery Talk, find something you like and that fits your specs, and offer a low but fair price. I picked up a PSE Bow Madness on there fully loaded for under $400. I switched the rest, but it was ready to hunt for under $400.

I don't think eye dominance matters that much to get a different handed bow because of it. I would just close my other eye if it was a problem
