My mother brought me 5 lbs of this sausage from Lake Chuck.

Like all things LC (save for Darrell's) I immediately scoffed and rebuked the assertion that I, a Ville Plattian, would ever have use for such a thing.

Well, I ran out of my game sausage and decided to use some for a deer roast. This stuff is pretty damned good.

I don't think I've had better smoked outside of Evangeline Parish. Heavy smoke flavor, good consistency, love it.

Is this is a thing in Lake Charles or did I just get lucky?

Never heard of Peto's. I see it's in Moss Bluff.

We've got some top notch smoked sausage and boudin all around.

I agree with everything UncleJack D just said

Peto's sausage is good. So are their breakfast burritos but the boudin is laughable

I think Famous Foods (if I'm thinking of the right place) has good boudin.

Jeez dude, it is obvious that you are from there and are biased. I've had boudin from all over and Cormie's in Lake Charles has smoe of the best. Market Basket there was also very good in its time until they changed their deli managers and the idiot there changed the recipe.

The market basket guy left and started his own place.. Sonnier's. It's some of my favorite all time boudin (smoked is incredible). Their sausage is pretty damn solid as well.

momma didn't raise no fool, baw.

I lived in LC for 5 years and never found boudin or sausage that touched the good stuff. Market basket boudin is pretty much an insult to the word boudin.

I must say that I had some from Market Basket when the Sonnier dude was still there making it. Somebody bought it to the duck camp (the smoked version). It was:

Very Damn Good: ________

Just ok: _________

Horrible: ___________

There's a Peto's just off I-10, near Roanoke I think, I've stopped there before but never noticed that they sold sausage. Is this the same people?
Also, Evangeline parish sausage is best around.

The first Peto's is in Moss Bluff and the other location is in Roanoke. Mr. Peto's two boys run the store in Roanoke.

Ernest Sonnier used to make boudin for Market Basket. Then he made it for Homsi's. Then Peto's. His brother, Layne owns the Sonniers in Lake Chuck and makes his own boudin, but Ernest had his recipe floating around all over. He passed away last week, though.

The one in Roanoke is one of two places I stop at specifically for smoked sausage. The other is Rita's in Gotte's Cove (between Iota and Basile).

In fact, cooked my red beans last night with some Peto's smoked sausage. The entire dish had a very nice smokey flavor to it, which I like in my beans and chicken gumbos.

I can vouch for the smoked sausage at the market basket on Nelson road back in the day. If the same guy is making it at Peto's, it's got to be good.

+1 on Peto's being very good.

Market Basket also makes damn good smoked sausage. Cormie's and Market Basket both have great boudin.

Looking forward to trying it. Also hear there are several places around LaPlace that are really good.
