Kentucky can expect a steady diet of Leonard Fournette

For the first time this year, the LSU offense is ready to go. It might not be pretty but Anthony Jennings will be the QB and Leonard Fournette will be the bell-cow for the LSU offense. Will the offense be predictable? Probably, but for now I think this is best offense LSU can muster. (oh dear jesus, please throw a play-action pass one time?) The good part is that Jennings does throw a nice pass downfield but does lack judgment. Fournette is starting to pick the holes instead trying to run over people, though he can run over most. The defense will be tested against Kentucky, their signature win against South Carolina aided by three turnovers.

Uh, they ran quite a few play action passes.

most of those came later, i mean, throw those a litter earlier on first down

We don't pass much, but PA is run early and often. I am dying to see some play action intermediate stuff more often. Whoever is playing QB needs to hit on these more often going forward.

Watch Fournette get 5 carries.

Hope they ready to eat some BUGAs ;)

I agree that we should throw on first down more often. BUT I can tell you why they don't. If you don't complete the pass then you face 2nd and 10 and now force AJ to throw two more times. The coaching staff has NO desire to throw three plays in a row.

It's funny how everyone is bitching about Fournette's lack of touches, because if you look back over the last 25 seasons only two tailbacks (LaBrandon Toefield and Kevin Faulk)have had more touches through their first seven games as a Tiger.
Toefield had 114 carries through the first seven games of the 2000 season and Faulk had 101 during the 1995 season (to be fair he did not play against Florida). Meanwhile, Fournette has 93 carries so far this season. However, Fournette has accrued more touchdowns in his first seven games than any other tailback during that span, and that includes the great Kevin Faulk. The only runner to eclipse Fournette's 504 yards was Cecil Collins with 596 through less than four games.
The tailbacks who suited up for LSU since 1990 include Faulk, Collins, Mealey, Toefield, Domanick Davis, Joseph Addai, Justin Vincent, Alley Broussard, Keiland Williams, Charles Scott, Jacob Hester, Stevan Ridley, Michael Ford, Richard Murphy, Alfred Blue, Spencer Ware, Terrance Magee, Jeremy Hill, and Kenny Hilliard.
By the way, Justin Vincent averaged 113 YPG during the second half of the 2003 season.

Agree, Jennings throws a good ball, maybe he just needs more time?

Agree. I didn't expect either quarterback to be lighting it up this year. Especially with no proven receivers to start the year. My biggest quip about Jennings is that he lacks vision. It's pretty much one read and bounce. A lot of people say that we don't use the tight ends, it's typically because no one throws to them. They do run routes.
I like play action on second down. Especially if you have a successful run on first. Bootleg style. If the mid route isn't there, you can check down to the tight end or the flat with the FB. If that isn't there you can run or throw it away and still have a manageable third down. BUT what the hell do I know?
ETA: in terms of LF. All I have to say is keep feeding pig.

Kentucky will game plan to stop the rushing attack big time.
If LSU & Fournette can run the ball well despite a stacked box we have a great chance of winning. But we also need the defense to play a disciplined game. Sure tackling will be key here.
Hold Kentucky to under 300 yards of total offense and rush for over 200yrds we win. This game will be a good test of team development after the Florida win.
We win decisively here and watch out remaining SEC West. LSU could shake up the division.
Death yell to the Rebs!

I don't want to see Fournette get more than 25 touches a game. Kid will be worn down by his JR if we don't manage him. We have other good backs.

Stunning development is true. Talk about "inside baseball".

I agree with this also. 20-25 for his first year is plenty. Occasionally might go to 30, but should not be the norm (don't think it will). Don't want to run him into ground.

Look what happened I. The last game when we used the FB out the back more than once, now can we use a back, TE, or just be more creative when doing so PLEASE. We also need to perform the fake better this is what tips the defense bf they even attempt the fake, there for no one falls for the damn fake which makes the fake pointless. The one time that I know we ran the TE down the middle the safety covered it and left Dural wide open on that big 3rd down. Man we can do this all game long and all over the field. The WRs need to sell this stuff too. We have guys that can adequately catch and block at least somewhat. These guys have to be used. I mean they may not be the quickest TEs but if the pass is accurate enough and the fake is good enough it will work. They need to practice these things and work on how can we get this guy open. Who can we match them up against to perform this most efficiently and make it happen. It just blows my mind that we can't get something simple going but that is confusing to a defense?? It does not have to be all that complicated to get a d thinking one thing and do another. This will open up huge holes to run thru and with LF's talent he could take it to the house with a good offensive gameplan/scheme. I swear I could call a better game if you give me personell groupings and these guys weaknesses and strengths, on both LSU and the opposing team. I know I could! I would have this team trotting down the field and call plays to their strengths and opponents weaknesses. Would call plays to get them into a rythyme and at a pace that gets the D tired and our team confidence. That's how you call plays not just random play calling like what I've been seeing!!! It kills me to watch it. You can call plays to set the other team up also. It makes the game fun to watch and play for everyone. These guys have to know what they are doing so do it Les Miles?!?!?!

No shite Sherlock. Do that to any team and you will win. However, I am thinking you haven't seen this defense or this offense and may be a little out of touch.

Screw that. He's going to the NFL after his Junior year. He's a mule...he can take it. We have other backs, but he's the best one.
