Wikipedia....LOL. That wouldn't merit a passing grade in an undergraduate history class. Sure, it's a reference to a historic plantation, but there is no contemporary use of the place name to the spot of ground referenced in the entry.

On the other hand, there is a large & well documented contemporary use (since early 70s) of Versailles to refer to the Vietnamese immigrant community centered on the Dwyer Blvd area (off of Chef Hwy). Some of the original refugees, sponsored by Catholic Charities, lived in the Versailles Arms apartment complex.

In addition to the aforelinked Emmy nominated documentary which aired on PBS, here's an exceedingly well-referenced article from the Journal of American History on the Vietnamese/Viet-American neighborhood's recovery from Katrina: LINK

I think that was in regards to a comment I made about this being the board's new Peche (ie the hot new subtle brag destination), but she missed the tone of the comment.

I don't what you're trying to say and don't know why you're hung up on this Versailles thing, nor am I sure why I'm hung up on it at this point. There is a area called Versailles in Orleans Parish named after an apartment complex and there is an area called Versailles in St. Bernard parish named after a plantation. There is tons of information out there about the plantation and numerous realty organizations refer to the town of Versailles in Chalmette. LINK

First, I was censored by this news outlet

B, I assumed the Chalmette Versailles because I deal with it everyday.

Eater NOLA's been really rough since they changed the website and at same time decreased the content. There used to be ~7 stories a day and the site was an easy place for a quick snapshot of what's going on. Now, I scroll down and it's maybe one or two posts/day. Gave up there, joined here, and have been lucky so far to avoid any rookie hazing.

Seems like this newbie should head over to the OT to be welcomed properly.

Keys Open Doors puts him to shame. He makes REG look like Rasheed Wallace
