I don't care how good you think Gus might be, you don't just plug in a new QB and have the same offense year after year. It isn't true in Florida, Bama, here, or anywhere.
And yes, Gus's system fits more of a "plug and play" than ours....he uses creativity in his scheme that doesn't rely on arm strength, timing routes, or very much 2nd or 3rd reads.

Not if he remains on the bench.
Exactly.

Uhhh...wasn't last year Marshall's first year? Fail.
Yes, and like I said, let's see if Gus has another Marshall waiting on the bench or another John Brantley (Tebow's replacement).
All coaches look like geniuses when they have a great college QB (Urban with Tebow looked a lot smarter than when he had Brantley). Marshall is a good college QB, especially in that system.
My point is, good to great college QB's don't grow on trees. Maybe Gus will get lucky with his next QB and he'll be as good as or better than Marshall. The odds of that being the case are against him, however.

Time will tell, Brady, time will tell.
I don't think it is quite as easy as you think it is to simply "plug and play" another QB into that system (or any other for that matter).

Marshall was a former UGA cornerback who didn't get to AU until the fall of 2013. The QB on the bench certainly looks like a guy who can play based upon the playing time he's gotten thus far in his career (He looked better than Marshall against Ark.) How can Gus bring in a great college QB as soon as he gets to AU, yet LSU continues to "strike out" on the recruiting trail?
The reality is Gus does a good job of tailoring his offensive approach based upon the strengths of his talent. Last year he had a good OL, a talented RB in Tre Mason, and a deep threat in Sammie Coates. Therefore he relied heavily on the running game. Now with OL and RB spot being a little weaker, he's gone to the air much more with Williams and Coates. When he does throw, he doesn't ask Marshal to make a lot of complicated reads or progression. He calls plays that fit his QBs strengths.
LSU on the other hand continues to recruit highly rated QBs and WR and then jam them into an offensive approach that doesn't fit their strengths. At some point when virtually all of your QBs continue to put up dismal numbers in the passing game year after year, one would think you'd try to change the way you do things a bit.

Zach Mettenberger with his 3,000+ passing yards last year says hello.

Actually Auburn's backup QB is pretty good so they'll be alright. Especially if Duke Williams stays one more year, though that's not likely

and that Florida defense is good
Why do people think this? Because the Florida defense five years ago was good? Because they have some talent? This Florida defense gave up more yards to Alabama than any Florida defense had ever given up in a single game. Ever. In the history of Florida.

Let's see how good Gus looks next season without Marshall.
Have you seen the backup ( Liggins i believe ). Hell he may be better than Marshall next year and throws better right now.

Mett wasn't recruited. He transferred here

Starting Beckwith was key.
I agree but another key just as big was playing Jamal Adams. I think he and Beckwith compliment each other up the middle. Adams did not start by the participation report but he got 4 solo tackles compared to 2/2 and 1/1 for Martin and Mills respectively.
I distinctly remember a play early in the game that KB was drawn out of the middle with a motion man and Driskel ran up the middle and Adams cut him down about 3-4 yards past the LOS. Dak and Marshall killed us on this

If these guys want to play in the NFL, they need to learn how to take a snap from under center. Also 3 of the top 5 seasons in pass attempts in the history of LSU football, cane under Les Miles.
We had two wrs drafted last year. Both will be good NFL players.
Against auburn we ran the majority of our plays out of the shotgun, in spread formation. We ran the majority of plays against UF out of the pro set. Now you tell me which was better suited for our players? The game we put up 7 points, or the one we put up 30?

Worst QB to ever start more than one game for LSU.
Interesting how you qualified that there. Because if we were rating QB's with a single start he would be better than Harris, which kinda defeats your point...
And he isn't the worst.

So if we're going to call each other names, at least back your statement up, homeaux.
So the original comment was:
Then another poster replied:
Zach Mettenberger was not recruited out of high school. He transferred from Georgia, to a Junior College, then to LSU. Whether or not LSU scouted him and approached him about transferring is beyond me, but the original commented implied recruited out of high school.

So you double down on your original retarded statement with another retarded statement. I guess Mett was casually strolling through the LSU campus one day and said to himself "hey I think I will play football here"

And he actually fumbled the snap in the process of spiking the ball to set up the FG.
Been wondering why scant mention of this....in real time, it scared the crap out of me; I jumped up and screamed "FFUh...what?" and was looking for flags, thought the fumble was blown dead...would love to see it in slo-mo; sure seemed like he dropped the snap.

Sheeeeet, I would after seeing Tiger Stadium.
But the original post implied recruiting top-tier talent straight out of high school.

Still worried about oline in 2015
A lot will have to be replaced especially if Alexander and Hawkins go pro
If those come back with Pocic oline will be very solid
