FRs and SOs next to Names in LSU 2 Deep

This has been stated over and over but take a look at This has been beaten into the ground so I'll do it some more but look at how many FR and SO are on the 2 deep and how few JR and SR there are. This matters. We all think that we should compete for the NC every year but that lack of experience makes a difference. MSU and OM have a lot of SRs and JRs on their 2 deep. We are talking 18 yr olds verses 21 & 22 yr olds. The 21 & 22 year olds are stronger faster and understand the game better.
All of this criticism of how LSU played against Florida is just silly. What did we think they were going to do blow Florida out? I used to think talent was talent no matter how old the player was but this year its clear that an truly experienced upper class filled team will win the day most of the time.
Sunshine pumped.

Noted. Still no excuse. It's called recruiting on a schedule. You don't recruit with one season in mind. You recruit on a four- or five-year timetable. When your roster gets to the point where the draft ravages it, your backups need to be coached up to be ready to become starters. It's called coaching.
Even freshmen get three or four weeks before the season starts to be brought into your system. That's where good coaching and good talent evaluation are important. And good talent evaluation is not just whether this guy is a four-star or five-star or can this guy run or throw 70 yards, but can he project to do the things we ask our players to do? At quarterback, this coaching staff historically is way below average at talent evaluation.

I don't care how much you "coach" up a Freshmen. If there is a Senior that is equally as talented the Senior will be better. The early defections put you behind on that 4-5 year recruiting timetable you are talking about. Different players are able to develop into SEC ready play at different levels. Not everyone can be Glenn Dorsey like when they are a FR or SO. Nkemdiches don't grow on trees. You could look up in 2 years and Gilmore and Herron could be the best 2 DTs in the country.

omg,we must make sure the coaches know this.

really? you are one smart sob.
your insight is so oversimplified it escapes comment. recruiting is a lot, lot tougher than you can even imagine. coaches can coach all they want (in the limited time they have according to ncaa rules) but there is no substitute of OJT. NONE.

True. These kids change drastically from one year to another. Hard work in the weight room, discipline at the dinner table, a steady regimen of studying the craft and toughening yourself mentally and physically, this is how a Preston Smith goes from whipping boy to NFL prospect. An entire recruiting class subscribing to this same formula is how an ordinary team develops into a championship contender.
Oh yeah, a really talented, seasoned QB helps tremendously.

We will continue to suck with AJ at QB. And not only him, the play calling is fricking terrible. I guess with Jennings all you can do is run up the middle anyway.

Limited scholarships and natural attrition happens every where and is easy to combat with what you say.
We don't have what is natural. We are the exception. When you have sophomore a jrs starting and going to the NFL, you can't just completely load those positions up. You have to recruit for needs. Also not all payers want to come ride the bench. We had a few dbs leave, not sure if it was playing time or a mixture of things, but we have 3 guys leave early to the 1st round and one get booted. Now we are starting frosh and sophomores because those were the guys in the cycles after them. Sorry we just didn't have another tm7 to plug into the team. Those frosh now are two of the better players on defense and they are upperclassmen.
Also in that time you had 3 srs get drafted and tharold Simon. No team can recruit to combat that. That's is unheard of.

Not to mention all the coaching in the world does not give a player experience. You can do film study all day, erry day, but if you've only been out on the field a handful of times you will never be ready for what it feels like to tackle a Todd Gurley, or how easily an Andre DeBose can run past you. All these freshmen are used to being men among boys in high school. Takes some time before they adjust to the new lay of the land

24 of 31 offensive touchdowns have been scored by freshmen and sophomores. (game notes say 23 but I only count 7 upperclassman TD's)
The offensive future of this team is bright.

Recruiting on a four to five year time table got us into this because we recruited so many NFL talents. Clearly our recruiting strategy needs adjustment
