I'm trying to get more adventurous with my at home bar tending skills. What are your favorite drinks to make yourself?

My favorite is infusing bourbon with hibiscus, then adding a touch of ginger.

You're such a badass. I bet you barely even coat the glass with vermouth and hardly use olive juice, right?
Old Fashioned is always solid.
Love a good Pimms Cup.
ETA: Also enjoy a nice Manhattan

I love the classics. The sours, the bucks, the martinis and Manhattans (I make a mean one-if I say so myself) etc. It's a whole new (really old) world of cocktails out there. Most of those pre-prohibition cocktails are outstanding! One thing I have learned is, go back to the original recipe and make as it is called for. Dont change anything the first time or two-then start tweeking to taste. Those old guys knew what they were doing. Also, try to be open minded. We were talking yesterday in the "sour" thread about gin sours. I have had many guests tell me they hated gin only to rave about a gin sour unknowingly. Spirits take on new personalities in these old classics so dont prejudge it. I used to not be a huge rye fan. I made my manhattans with bourbon-then I tried the classic. A new world! Have fun.

Unc's right on this one. To be a "cocktail" a drink must have a spirit or spirits and some other ingredient to be mixed together (shaken or stirred) the mixer is usually a fruit juice, simple syrup, and or cream.
