When I moved up to the northeast, I was amazed to find that it's pretty common for people to spend a weekend in Iceland. Direct flights to and from Boston daily and it's only a 2 1/2 hour flight or so, shorter than it is for me to visit home.
Still haven't had a chance to do it though.
