I want to trademark a phrase+'.com' that I own. The phrase is the company catch line.

Just wondering how that is done.

I believe trademarks are registered through the patent office.

Hiring a lawyer is easier but you will file for the mark through the USPTO. An examiner will review your mark and usually enquire regarding possible changes and conflicts, possibly requiring small changes.. The uniqueness of the mark will help distinguish things but this can limit you in some ways.. Check out their website database for potential conflicts.

Go through USPTO.

Pretty simple and you can use a fast track approach. However, it's much easier if the trademark is already used in commerce.

"Aww, Tuff"
