Anyone know of a good place online to go when trying to determine the distance from one location to another.

Trying to figure an approximate distance for a kayak paddle...seems like a short paddle but i can't decide

thanks

I found this to be a very useful tool. it allows you to determine acreage size as well as point a to point b. you simply zoom in to the location and click the 4 corners.

easiest is google maps. Just right click where you want to begin and select "measure distance" from the dialog box that pops up.

ETA: right click again to clear measurement.

If you want to scope out places to kayak, google earth is your friend.

2-3 mile paddle isn't too bad unless it's into a 20mph wind against the tide. Took me over an hour to paddle one mile last Sat into a stiff wind against the tide.

Depends on what you are paddling. My Manta Ray 14' is easy to paddle that distance. I went 15 miles in west cove during a tournament once.
