When, where, and how often do you listen to music?

How and where do you consume your music?

Do you listen with headphones, or do you prefer 'open' sound (speakers, hi-fi system, studio monitors)?

Mainly in my room on my stereo. Either through vinyl or laptop. If not, 90.3 pretty much stays playing smooth jazz all day.

Living room is mostly laptop where I force all company to listen to 13+ minute Dead/Phish jams.

I'm not a fan of headphones except for porn.

Just about every day at work via headphones (iPod). On some days when I know I'm going to be at my desk all day I'll listen to music about 5 hours.

ALWAYS have music playing in my truck. Always.

Some nights when I can't fall asleep I'll take out the iPod and listen to a podcast or some slower music.

I have about 15k songs on an iPod in my car. When driving, I listen to that 99% of the time. Sometimes I will put on Sirius/XM. At home, I have a Squeezebox connected to my stereo with a music server that serves up FLAC files and MP3's to the Squeezebox. First thing I do when I wake up is turn that on. I listen to it while showering and getting ready for the day (aka, taking a shite). Anytime I want some background noise, I turn on the music. When I brew, I have another iPod in a dock in the brewery loaded with good brew music. At work, I usually don't listen to music but sometimes I'll put some on. That's the only time I'll use headphones (Skull Candy buds) other than when I'm on an airplane.

Never headphones. When showering/getting ready in the morning or to go out, when driving, and when cooking/eating. Pretty much unless I'm sitting to kill time watching netflix or a sports game is on, if I'm home I'm listening to music.

95% spotify. A little pandora sometimes.

Whenever I'm in my truck via Spotify. Occasionally, I'll do some night listening at home when I'm trying to find new stuff.

Not nearly enough. I just don't seem to have the time unless I'm in my car but I don't really drive a lot.

I listen probably 6 hours a day. Mornings at work when I'm in my office for 3-4 hours. Evenings when I'm grading papers and researching at home for 3 hours or so as well. That's all with headphones (which I prefer when I'm really wanting to listen closely to music. I find it to be more immersive and my home stereo system isn't that good).

We also have music going over the stereo anytime we're doing family time (getting ready in the mornings, cooking in the evenings).

And of course we listen in the car. All listening is on spotify these days unless I'm listening to a mixtape on soundcloud or bandcamp.

Spotify on my work laptop at about 25% volume all day. I like background music while I'm working.

Headphones at the gym

Spotify on my iPhone if chilling on the balcony.

Iphone plugged into car and jamming offline playlists on road trips.

6-8 hours a day on average

When I wake up, my alarm plays a song. Then I plug my phone into my speakers and workout and shower. Then I get dressed with music on. Then I get in my car and plug my phone in and listen. Then when I get to school I put in headphones I'm the library. Same as at work. Then I listen on the drive home. When I get home in the evening I put a record on the record player and sit out on the balcony with a glass of Bourbon.

Life is good.

Yes, if you can find them. They were originally called SliMP3 and made by a company called Slim Devices. Then Logitech bought them and discontinued the product a couple of years ago. I heard you can put Squeezebox firmware on a Logitech UE Smart Radio though.

It's the only way to go for me. I usually keep it on random play but if I want to, I can play any song or album without getting up from my couch.

What do you listen to while brewing? I can never find anything I want to listen to while I brew.

Depends on what kind of beer I'm making.

Actually, I just like unpretentious music that feels real to me. I'm a big fan of prog rock but for brewing, I'm looking for just the opposite. Blues, bluegrass, a little bit of country (not the fake-arse country-pop you hear on the radio), southern rock and good ol' fashioned straight ahead rock. Some examples: Allman Bros, Alvin "Youngblood" Hart, Gary Clark Jr., Keb' Mo', Zeppelin, John Campbell, Roy Buchanan, Sonny Landreth, Kathleen Edwards, String Cheese Incident, Levon Helm, Little Feat, Radiators.

Get to the office around 7:50 spotify is turned on around 8 doesn't go off until about 4:30. No headphones, I just crank up the phone speakers and apologize in advance to my neighbor, she is pretty cool about it.
