How the frick is the DC tv universe so good but the movie universe so craptastic?!?!

I can't believe DC/WB doesn't want to connect their movie universe to this awesome tv universe they have created.

DC is basically the anti-marvel, every good thing marvel does, DC is like, "eff that we will do the exact opposite of that!"

Derp.

Is that why Arrow, Flash, Gotham, and Constantine are so awesome?

Pretty sure he's referring to the movies for the most part.

as the guy ahead of me said... I'm referring to the movies, I mean just look how awesome the TV shows are (minus Gotham, don't get me wrong I like Gotham, but it's not as good as Flash, Arrow, or Constantine), why NOT connect them and create a Universe out of it?!?!?!?!?!

I love Arrow, and I actually like Gotham more the The Flash. The Flash is basically Smallville updated. Instead of meteor freaks we get meta humans. So we get a MOTW. I don't see it being sustainable over the long haul, as the subcharacters aren't overly interesting to have storylines revolving around them,

yeah, I could see that as well, my biggest gripe with Gotham is probably more based on the fact that I have watched the Mentalist since season 1... and I think I'm just getting tired of Bruno Heller's "style"

Are you sure about that? The way I see it, it's building towards a "Rogues" situation led by Captain Cold in which he breaks out all of the metavillains trapped inside Star Labs.

So far, you have Mist and Girder locked up.

Not only that, but they still have to change Caitlin into Killer Frost sometime.

Exactly. This is season 1, so they are having to set everything up just like Arrow did in their season 1. They've already introduced the overarching storyline(s) of Wells and Barry's mother's death.

And I'm still curious as to where they are going t o go with Caitlin's storyline. You would think if the particle accelerator created the metahumans, then Caitlin should already have her powers (or at least they should be growing).

And like you said with Mist and Girder locked up in Star Labs, with Cold still on the loose, and with Boomerang on the horizon for the crossover episodes, you know they are setting up the eventual formation of the Rogues. And I have a nerdgasm just thinking about how awesome it will be once all of the Grodd breadcrumb come to fruition.

I for love the initial direction the show has taken. Sure, they have had to build a little slowly due to having to introduce non-comic fans to the main characters. But it has gone better than the 1st half of season 1 of Arrow (and we all know how Arrow turned out).

Try watching Gotham and then come back. You'll think all the flash actors deserve awards immediately.

Watched Gotham this week. You ain't lyin'!

Not bad this week. Probably the best acted flash of the season.

See I am not a comic book person. I love the movies, can't read comics. Read Watchmen and thought it was ok. They just do not pull me in. So as someone who knows next to nothing about The Flash's villains, I have no clue that is what they are building towards and it feels Very Smallvilleish. Smallville got better as they focused more on the macrostory and not the MOTW. That and the fact that the two scientist sidekicks (can't even remember there names they are so unmemorable) just don't do it for me has this treading water for me. Arrow is basically Batman, and coming right off of Nolan's movies, it's easy to relate and get sucked into it. For me in level of interest it's:

Barry's mom's death
Dr Wells--who is he
Joe ( I just like the guy)
Barry--interesting but I don't know how he grows as a character

Not interesting
Sister/love interest and boyfriend--coffee shop/journalist/blogger
wonder sidekicks--if you say they turn bad please let it happen soon because they are boring
MOTW--gets old.

Unlike Smallville, where once a year he figures out a power (heat vision, hearing, super speed, etc), at least they are condensing all of Barry's abilities into one season it seems.

Is anybody else dreading his inevitable death? I really hope he makes it several seasons before they kill him.

One of them does if they stay true to her character. Killer Frost kills people by absorbing all of the heat from their body to sustain her. Her fiancee is one half of Firestorm.

The other one becomes a hero whose power is to create sonic vibrations.

He got the half smile from Wells, which is usually the kiss of death. He hasn't much longer for this series

But I think it is pretty obvious that the macro-story for the 1st season is the death of Barry's mom. Heck, if you've read this thread then you know who kills her in the comics, and that is obviously the route they are going with it (it's just a matter of who it actually is). And then add in the Wells character and how he fits into everything, and we might have two macro-stories for this season (which are the top two items that interest you about the show so far).

Even Arrow has to do some villain of the week episodes to fill in while they grow the macro-stories. Just this season we've seen the latest Vertigo, Wildcat's apprentice, and we'll have Cupid tonight. The awesome thing about most of Flash's villains in the comics is that they eventually team up together to form an alliance to take on Flash. That is going to be fun when that actually takes place.
