Amazon Prime....hardware question

I have an Amazon Prime account, but currently don't have a way to view the content. I bought a new smart TV recently but later found out it didn't have an Amazon Prime app.
So my question is, what would be my best option for viewing Amazon Prime? I see they have hardware for $100. Would I need 1 unit for each TV? I know nothing about this, Roku, apple tv etc so looking for some input.

I am guessing you mean Amazon Prime Instant Streaming.
You can use the fireTV.
Roku works great as well. AppleTV can play it through another iOS device. Chromecast is also through a device.
I suggest going with a Roku, some of them can be had for cheap and work great.

Yes.

I don't think the Apple TV has Amazon Prime (although you could use Air Play to stream from your iPhone/iPad). Amazon Fire TV doesn't have HBOGo yet, although it's supposed to be coming. If you're wanting to set up multiple TVs and price is a concern, I'd look at the Roku's, or maybe the Chromecast if you're ok controlling it from your phone/tablet.

And these things are only a 1 time fee, correct?

All of the streaming devices are 1 time fees, but you have to pay for the content (NetFlix, Amazon Prime, etc.)

I know that Roku is. Plus you'll get tons of free channels and access to Netflix if you need it.

Ok that what I thought just wanted to be sure. Already paying for netflix and amazon prime and didn't want to add something else
On a related note...seems like Netflix has better TV/ Docu options but Amazon Prime more options for movies you've actually heard of...sound about right?

I have both but use NetFlix more because I like the interface better (it's easier to find something to watch). They are fairly comparable services with a lot of overlap, so if you had to choose it'd probably come down to how much you use free shipping vs. how interested you are in NetFlix exclusives like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black.

I have an older model roku and it supports Amazon prime, Netflix, Hulu plus, watch ESPN, HBOGo, and several other channels. Just be careful you are only watching the prime content. Amazons viewing menu is not always segregated by free on prime and stuff you have to pay extra for.

Have they not fixed this yet? It was one of the reasons I cancelled my Prime membership a year or so ago. So irritating, especially since my kids used to it primarily.

There are separate prime TV and prime movies as categories but you can also go to new release and it is a mix of both. I think you fan require a password but not sure.
