Maybe this is like that "You've just won a free boat!" scam the police use to get you to pay unpaid tickets and shite. Get everyone to out themselves as pedophiles and when the show up to a big room to collect their disability we lock the door and fill it with water.

Actually the article is pretty clear that pedophilia is wrong and the people they are trying to help are those who have sexual thoughts towards children but have not acted on it because they know its wrong...
Or would you prefer they don't get help and then one day molest a child?

The article you linked appears to be written by someone that read the headline only, formed an opinion and didn't read anything else. The thrust of the article:
I would disagree with some of the article, but the overall idea that we maybe try to identify and treat pedos before they commit violence seems reasonable.

No. The article I linked has numerous direct quotes from the NYT article. That's not 'headline only.'

That's why I used the word appears....I should have added "and cherry picked" quotes to get the above responses.
