I am very curious of the staff's thinking on this one.

I rank him 4th on the depth chart

we don't pass to our running backs so what is the deal?

We didn't try to pass, so it wasn't for pass blocking reasons.

If anyone has any insight, please share it..

Maybe the coaching staff is determined to "help" him succeed?

oh I am sure he hit the gap just as hard and slugglish as he normally does...maybe it was for ball security reasons

Pretty sure he was gaining 7-8 yards on 1st down, so him starting certainly wasn't an issue.

Since Harris has been #2 all year, maybe he has been running his reps with Magee all season. Have the freshman in with someone he is comfortable with.

I seem to remember him playing quite well, actually.

I like Magee, but he had the lowest ypc average going into the game. How did he earn the start?

Magee ain't the problem, but starting with him in the backfield shows our coaching shortcomings.

Well, I can appreciate the honor gesture

But it's time the coaches start sending better messages to the team...

If you want the hole hit fast, you have to have LF or just forget about it...because we don't have another back capable of getting there quick enough before 3 LB's are ready to pounce

when Harris went under center and Magee was in the backfield and I knew MIles was going to ease Harris into he game by running the ball

Immediately, that suggest the coaches don't trust the Harris with the football... then we get behind in the game, leading to 3rd and 8 all night and it's impossible to be good under these circumstances...same thing happened to Jennings.

Until the coaches make the opponent defend the pass, the running game is going to suck wind.

Turn Harris lose with wide open offense from the start.

Just freaking open it up... We are losing the conservative way...so at least go down fighting in the next game, right?

Nothing to lose at this point but pride

We did have success running the ball on first down last night in the 1st qtr...

but we couldn't do anything after because AU knew we would on 2nd and 3

So they stuff that play

Then they knew we would likely run with a freshman QB on 3rd and short..

then when we passed it was expected because we were down 3 TDS..

Magee was in for the first two series. He ran fine, but we went 3 and out both times.

Williams came in on the 3rd series. He ran fine, but we went 3 and out again.

Fournette came in on the 4th series and we got our 1st first down the first time he touched the ball, our 2nd first down after two more carries by him. We then scored our first and only TD two plays better. You all tell me which scenario seemed to work out the best.

Although I didn't particularly like Magee starting the game, he played well AT FIRST. I can also understand that, it being a road game, Miles wanted a vet to set the tone, and Magee did do that.

HOWEVER, when we were down 3 scores and needed to sustain drives, Fournette needed the load. Giving him one or two carries is not going to keep Auburn off the field. Magee started off well, but he didn't hold up too well as the game went on.
