...or the Onedof (One Degree of Freedom)--also a cool $200k.

Or for a paltry $145k, there's the Walker Audio Proscenium Black Diamond Table...

See if you can scour the inter webs for one of these...the German Clearaudio Statement...
I sent a link to that to a coworker who is buying a turntable for his teen daughter. He didn't think it was real.

The Clearaudio Statement will set you back $200k as well...
If you google more images of it, you will see that it has a giant 400 pound pendulum hanging from the bottom of the sub platter. This pendulum is to assure that the platter is always level with the surface of the earth!!...that 'table is so incredibly over engineered it is mind boggling (there are numerous other engineering accolades to this table and its design). The top platter is held in place magnetically. It is also a work of art when you see one in person.

The nice thing about Clearaudio is they make a turntable that sells for $1400 too--The Concept--and it is a solid little performer and extremely well built and engineered. The beauty of these over the top, crazy expensive reference and statement turntables is that much of their uber technology will find its way down to the lower models in time.

Appreciate the help, bros. Almost pulled the trigger on that $145k setup. Price seems reasonable. And I wouldn't have to upgrade for at least 5-10 years.

Has anyone had a chance to catch Jack Whites record company's record truck rolling through their town yet? Came to Dallas yesterday but I couldn't make it, which disappointed me.

The funniest thing about it is that you can buy it online. Who in their right mind would trust UPS to deliver that to their front porch?

Mila Kunis better deliver that bitch with her tits hanging out

There's a guy from Metairie in our audio group that has the Walker Black Diamond 'table.
I gotta say, if you have the means, it really is a work of world class craftsmanship.

Another one of the audio geeks in our circle (he's in Covington) has the dCS Vivaldi digital playback system--a 4 piece CD player/DAC.
One box is the transport--it plays, or spins the physical media.
Another box is the DAC--digital to analog converter--it crunches the 0's and 1's.
Another box is the Rubidium clock--like an atomic clock for the sample rate timing
Another box for the Upconverter--converts all sample rates to the highest possible resolution.
I believe the MSRP on this is around $118,000...
I listened to my Radiators "Bucket of Fish" live CD through this system and it was just awesome. It brought out subtle nuances on that CD that I never heard before on any other digital playback system.

Ok guys, what I am about to ask is like asking a bourbon fanatic to recommend Evan Williams or Jim beam so have some patience with me. I love the nostalgia of vinyl, and my dad has a ton of old records I like to listen to but I want to start my own collection. Before I do that, I need a record player. I'm talking a fairly cheap one. Not like what many of you have. I want it to be wood. Any recommendations?

I would look into getting a vintage table. You'll really get the most bang for your buck that way. Technics, Pioneer, Dual and countless other brands. Just hop on ebay and look for reputable sellers, then you can also look on craigslist and local shops when you figure out how much you wanna spend.
This is what I always tell people that want quality within a budget

Look for a Pioneer PL-41...heavy, all wood, 3/4 inch base on a four sides and top plate, good arm with a removable head she'll for swapping out carts. Also, new belts are still made for it.
Or just get a ProJect Debut for $325 or a ProJect Debut 3 Carbon for $400 and call it a day. They are great tables and new.

That from the Vinyl Me club? I was looking at joining them but decided on joining Record Friends instead. Their offerings seemed more my niche
