It's laughable that we spend these resources on something like this, dishing out very real jail time, while those running financial institutions that commit the same fraud on a scale capable of bringing down the global economy pay paltry fines.

I agree with many people that they were railroaded by the Government because they are Italian.

I disagree and I'm Italian. They got railroaded because they are attention seeking douchebags.

They got railroaded because they cannot fight the behemoth government, are pseudo celebrities, and can be used as an example.

We let firms with powerful litigators simply pay fines after laundering drug cartel money and fraudulently rating toxic debt, but this guy deserves three years in the clink while his family goes destitute.

They were railroaded because they make lavish displays of their stolen wealth on TV.

He screwed many contractors, employees, customers in his "construction business" for years. He built himself a freaking mansion and flaunts it on TV along with his wife...all achieved illegitimately. They are actually lucky they only got a few years. the wife only got one year

Before the sentencing, the Giudices got an earful from Judge Salas over discrepancies and omissions in their financial filings with terms like perjury being used. Because of the fraud, the couple’s bankruptcy of several years ago was cancelled by the court last month and the Giudices once again owe over $13 million to creditors.

The federal charges could have cost the couple millions in fines and put them behind bars for decades. More charges were added against Teresa and Joe in November of last year, which the duo plead not guilty to as they had the previous charges. In addition, the case revealed that Joe was in the U.S. illegally and he could face deportation to Italy after serving his time. RHONJ being shameless as it is, all of this made its way on to ongoing Season 6 of the Bravo series.

Frick those trashy douche bags.

Good ol Juicy Joe Giudice. I'm going to miss his sage advice on that show.
