Will the committee pair two SEC teams in the semi-final?

I believe the committee will have a strong view. They either won't allow SEC teams to play in the semi or that will be the only option. That would be absolutely brutal for the SEC champ. Three very tough games in a row.

Two teams for the conference is great for everyone but the conference champ.

I think they will seed them where they should be seeded.

It's not likely an SEC team will be the #1 seed. Pretty likely you could see them be 2 and 4.

Excellent question to propose after just 5 weeks of college football.

Perhaps, I should have made it more generic, but let's be honest. Nobody but the SEC is getting two teams in the foreseeable future.

No doubt. Certain situations force that. 2 loss champions in two of the Big 5 and a 1-loss non-champ in the SEC guarantees it.

They are going to have a hard time letting a team from outside the SEC in the playoff, IMO.

I wish. imo, it will be one of the easiest decisions ever. letting in a two loss SEC team in over a zero loss team from a minor conference will not happen. get ready for the Boise's and BYU's of the world to get their place at the table while the big conference boys beat each other out of a spot. it is inevitable that the playoff goes to 8 teams.

An 8 team playoff is inevitable. 5 champions of major conferences plus 3 at-large selected by the computers. Then let the computers determine seedings. Take the human element out.

I sure hope not. No reason for 8 teams in the playoff. Devalues the regular season. Three at-larges is absurd. Three teams that didn't win a Big 5 conference championship.

I hope if they pick two SEC teams that they make them play each other first, or any conference for that matter. No one wants a single conference championship game, especially if it is a rematch.

Let me break it down for you.

SEC East champ (likely Top 10)
SEC playoff team (very likely a team you already beat)
#1/2 team in the country

It's very difficult to beat any top team two out of two. If the West team had already beaten the East champ, you could be asking them to beat two great teams twice, and then the #1/2 team to win a title. That's absurd. You are asking a team to go undefeated in 5 games against 3 Top 10 teams.

Maybe, but having Condoleezza Rice on the selection committee is even more absurd. Also, if your position is not to allow a team in that didn't win a championship, then only 1 SEC team gets in every year.

Condoleezza Rice is a huge college football fan who is good at making complex decisions. She is probably my favorite person on the committee. That said, I hate the committee.

I would also be up for a 6 team playoff with the #1 and #2 seeds getting a first round bye. Either way, 4 teams is not enough.

Why in the hell would a 1-loss SEC team get left behind a 2-loss Pac-12 champ? That's ridiculous.

I disagree. I can't think of a season in the BCS era where the 5th ranked team had a legitimate case to be in the title game.
