I am really interested in the opinions of other Louisiana voters on these. The PAR Guide gives a good explanation of each one.
??Voter Checklist – November 4, 2014 This is the order the amendments will appear on the ballot
1. Medical trust fund and healthcare provider base rate
2. Hospital assessment, trust fund and fee formula
3. Sales of property with delinquent taxes
4. Fund transfers for an infrastructure bank
5. Elimination of the mandatory retirement age of judges
6. HighermillagecapforpoliceandfireprotectioninOrleansParish
7. Property tax exemption for certain disabled veterans
8. Artificial Reef Development Fund
9. Tax exemption reporting for permanently disabled residents
10. Tax sale of vacant, blighted or abandoned property
11. Increases the number of state departments from 20 to 21
12. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission membership
13. Orleans Lower Ninth Ward vacant property
14. Tax rebate

I'm not voting for (whether that means I have to vote yes or no) any more protected funds in this state. If these frickers don't stop, we won't have any place to trim the budget other than gutting higher education.

It is protected. That's the point of putting it in the constitution. That and getting around a Jindal Veto.

Why do we need so many amendments? They throw a shitload of these things out there just hoping that theirs is hidden and passes because of lazy voters pushing straight yes buttons.

Could change my mind but right now:
1. Medical trust fund and healthcare provider base rate -NO, no more protected funds, would hurt higher education
2. Hospital assessment, trust fund and fee formula - NO See #1 (though I think the idea is a good one)
3. Sales of property with delinquent taxes - YES, this fixes a bad Sup Court decision
4. Fund transfers for an infrastructure bank - meh, not sure
5. Elimination of the mandatory retirement age of judges NO, hard enough to remove
6. HighermillagecapforpoliceandfireprotectioninOrleansParish - YES, it's N.O.'s prerogative.
7. Property tax exemption for certain disabled veterans NO
8. Artificial Reef Development Fund NO, see #1
9. Tax exemption reporting for permanently disabled residents NO
10. Tax sale of vacant, blighted or abandoned property YES, 18 months is long enough
11. Increases the number of state departments from 20 to 21 NO, don't grow government!
12. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission membership NO, should not be in constitution
13. Orleans Lower Ninth Ward vacant property NO, good idea, bad implementation
14. Tax rebate - YES, this fixes a loophole.

Don't know much about any of them, but it looks like I'd vote against 5 and 11.

No more funds for police departments until we legalize marijuana and prostitution.

That is true. However, since I so rarely give the state legislature credit I want to do so now.
These are actually proposed amendments from both the 2013 AND the 2104 session. Since there was no 2013 statewide election it would have cost millions to vote on just the 8 amendments from 2013. So they pushed it back a year to save money. Sec of State Schedler gets a lot of credit for that too.

Never, ever vote for a constitutional amendment in Louisiana. Once it's in the constitution, you can't get it repealed. The legislature can make all these items "laws," but they are abdicating their responsibility and are putting said on the people.

That is what I was thinking also. I really was planning on voting "no" on all of them, particularly the one establishing a new Department and any of them that earmarks funds for a specific purpose.

I generally vote no for everything unless it specifically says its to decriminalize something or to increase freedom.

Probably voting no to all of them
