In my opinion, our inability to stop teams like MSU and Wisconsin has forced Miles' hand as he knows that BH is his best chance to put points in the board, even with the risk of starting a true freshman at Auburn. If we had a stout D like in 2011, AJ would be starting.

NMST was AJ's dress rehearsal with a more open offense in preparation for Auburn and he did not play well with 3 TO's.

So you're saying the only reason Harris is starting is because our defense can't stop anybody so we need him to put up 6 TD's a game? ..yeah..makes sense.

I somewhat agree.

If Jennings were the starting quarterback for the 2011 or 2012 teams, we'd win a ton of football games.

But this year, gone are the days of our quarterback being a game manager. We don't have the defense nor a proven running game at this point.

Or maybe he just decided that Brandon Harris will lead our offense more successfully. You're way over-thinking this.

he has a point…Les has a propensity to put in the QB who is least likely to turn the ball over if our D is stout…but after Miss. St. we found out our D is not near as good as we thought…so, in essence, we had to take the training wheels off the offense. when we did that, Jennings no longer could possess the football hence why Harris is starting @Auburn.

Not at all. Les has given us years of evidence.

this is the truth and not a bad thing. you know who else wins with running game and defense, Alabama.

that said i'm excited about Harris. I think he has potential to be special and will have to be with a poor defense.

I don't understand why Miles tries to win games getting the bare minimum out of his offense. Why does he count on Chief and special teams to win the games for us? What's wrong with having a competent offense?

So, you're arguing that in certain circumstances we should start the quarterback who is least likely to put points on the board? OK.

Well, to be fair, we've only had competent QB play in about 4/10 years under Les.

goes back to what everyone was saying.

this year's team doesn't need a game manager. it wouldn't survive with one.

it needed a playmaker.

um, every year since 2008. more specifically, JJ over JLee and Mettenberger in 2011.

Then, last year, we had 2 NFL WRs and an NFL QB and we still ran the ball 65% of the time last year. I'm not saying his strategy is off base. The one time we aired it out, we lost to Ole Miss.

Les Miles always plays the QB who gives LSU the best chance to win.

He has always done that, and he always will.

At the beginning of the season, Jennings gave LSU the best chance to win. Harris was not ready to start those games. Harris's poor performance in the early games is well documented. He looked exceptionally anxious in the Wisconsin game, and he ran the wrong plays in the ULM game.

Harris has progressed tremendously. He's not as anxious, and he's executed the plays called. Harris's performances in the MSU and NMSU games were lights out.

Harris gives LSU the best chance to win against Auburn. Thus, Miles named Harris as the starter.

it is very possible that we look back on MissSt as a blessing in disguise. It basically uncovered the truth about this team ... Our defense is a liability, and to have some possibility at 8+ wins we HAVE to be able to score some points and keep up with teams.

The MissSt game has "sped up" the process of getting Harris more involved on offense, not to mention "sped up" the process of us opening up the offense....Everyone now realizes that if we try to over-protect these QBs and be overly conservative that we will fall behind in every game and we are in store for 5+ losses as our Defense is not good enough to go out and win games with us only scoring 14-20 points.

We have no choice but to remove the training wheels from this offense and let it rip. Mistakes will be made, but at least we will be competitive in games and start to develop an offensive identity for the future. It mind be blind optimism, but the loss to Miss State could very well be a turning point for this young team and overall offensive philosophy.

As per the defense, your guess is as good as mine... I don't know that there is a "fix" for this year, its just a matter of limiting the big plays, keep recruiting the DL hard, and maybe next year we'll be better. We suck up the gut, and there's nothing IMO that will change that this year ... But you absolutely CANNOT be giving up 60, 70, 80 yard plays. Even if you're giving up 5 yards per play, at least you open up the possibility of the other team making a mistake at some point.

No, playing the best QB has forced Miles hand.

We couldn't run the ball against NWST or ULM....and we dominated them on Defense, so your theory goes out the window!

When teams know your play call before the ball is snapped, it hard to execute.
