Upon opening the box after having my grill delivered, i noticed a small chip in the ceramic on the rim of the lid of my Primo Large Oval.

Anyone care to guess how they handle this? Grill hasn't been used and carries a 20 yr warranty. I'm going to call them tomorrow and see what's up.

I had already unloaded this big bastard in my backyard, not looking forward to having to move it again and ship it back to them

eta- will fix crooked pics

I bet they will just send you a new one and won't ask for the damaged one back. Too expensive to ship.

I will. I found it late today or else I would've had them on the phone.

I'll report back one way or another

If they ship you another one, I'll take that one of your hands on the cheap.

Anytime and I mean anytime you receive a freight type shipment look it over.... if it doesn't look in pristine shape have the person delivering it open it and make sure it isn't messed up. It is the freight company's fault it looks like that and they will make it right as well. You just have to do it when you receive it... never sign off on it unless you know its right.

They'll send you a new one. I had a warranty claim after I broke mine moving it through my own fault and got a brand new one free. Primo is absolutely top notch.

Normally I would've but I wasn't home for the delivery. The gf signed for it and I didn't think to tell her to have UPS open it up. Oh well.

Sounds like Primo will make it right

I'm going to be calling Primo service myself soon. The spring loaded mechanism that supports the lid on my XL is having problems. I find myself tightening all the nuts and bolts every 2-3 months otherwise the lid will come crashing down and wont remain open. I'm afraid I'm eventually going to end up cracking the ceramic. By then end of a few weeks there is visible wiggle between the plates attached to the lid and base. I've leveled the grill and just cant figure out why those bolts keeping coming loose.

I heard that they make their customers pay for shipping. That kinda sucks. Also whats with all the reports of lids falling off lately?

Yes, but the bottom was shattered. Took a hard fall when moving due to my stupidity. Totally my fault but they sent me a brand new oval xl.

Update

So I contact Primo. They wanted nothing to do with it and told me I needed to contact Amazon.

Amazon says sure, no problem, we will send you a new grill. All I have to do is ship the damaged grill back to them by UPS pickup or bring it to a UPS Store to ship it back. So now I have to track down the shipping materials and lug this 150 lb grill to ship it off.

Is it a chip or a crack? If just a chip it may be more convenient to keep the one you have.

Why? Isn't amazon an authorized dealer?
