...Past the own 40. I'm talking on 4th and 1, 2, 3, 4, or even 5. Considering the Saints as a team with a good offense and a bad defense.

For instance, the Saints had the ball 4th and 2 twice past the 50 and chose to punt and kick the FG.

The Saints lead the league in 3rd down conversion this year at 57+%. Logic would say that the 4th and short % would be even higher

All I know is calling a fake punt in the 4th quarter was one of the dumbest play calls I have ever seen in my entire life.

At least let Drew Brees throw the pass, not the punter.

In Payton's defense, it probably worked like a charm in practice.

No team should ever punt the ball on their opponents' half of the field.

Yeah, it probably worked in practice against 11, but the wily cowboys threw that curveball and only had 10 men on the field.

Nothing to do with madden. It has to do with statistics. I don't see why the Saints should punt the ball on 4th and short when they are the best at converting 3rd downs and have a terrible defense.

Unfortunately, most coaches are trying to avoid media second guessing than winning games. Otherwise, they'd never punt on the opponent's side of the field and rarely on their own.

This is especially true in baseball.

I thought about this last night. What's the worst that happens if they don't get it? They give up the ball at the 45? If they punt, Dallas gets it on the 10, they'll just run three plays and be on the 45 anyway.
