Maybe Harper, Jenkins, and Sproles was the answer?

Instead of saying people are old and shite. Brees still has 2 more years in his prime. Harper and Jenkins were veterans with this team and team chemistry is important. Cooks is not a sproles. Sproles was dynamic. He was a fast strong bowling ball while cooks is a fast stick. Those are our missing links and terrible play calling from Sean.

Sproles, absolutely. Jenkins and Harper were not the answer. Harper's resigning was one of Loomis' biggest flops.

Dude I forgot we even had Joseph Morgan on the team.
In 2009,2011 we would run on 1st down, and if went for 5-9 yards, second down would be a play action rainbow to Devery. Most beautiful shite u ever saw.

I havent seen that tried with morgan at all. Were hardly even letting wideouts get vertical.

I don't know why Morgan isn't getting playing time...he had one drop against ATL but that's it....dude still seems find a way to get open

Harper couldn't cover, still can't, was being overpaid

Jenkins, credit for being around the ball, but 2 of his INT's this year were thrown right to him moreso than he made a good instinctual play on the ball

Sproles looks good, but he is in a whole different offense now getting the ball to him in different ways than Payton was...If you are not using players right then it's best you get somehting for them like a 5th rd pick instead of having millions of dollars tied up to that player that you aren't using right

Sproles had fallen off IMO. He had one kick return for TD in the 3 yrs we had him. With the RB group we have it was the right move letting him go. Harper was bashed on this board on the regular. Jenkins is the only guy I wish we still had. We could use his versatility and veteran leadership

Jenkins was never as bad as Harper but he seemed to regress each year. Am stunned at how great he's looked for Philly.

He also wasn't afraid to make a hit across the middle.

Jenkins was horrible here, I would take Harper back though. He was good at 1 thing and that was stopping the run. We've been absolutely shredded on the ground so far.

4 games dude. 4 games does not make a career. Cooks seems to be doing everything they are asking him to do. Sproles was not worth $6mil/year, even with the way he is playing this year in Philly, not when we got all of that back in cap space.

Harper

Has been a liability for years and was a terrible burden on the cap

quote:

Jenkins

Did nothing here. Where were his ballhawking skills last year? Last 3 years? Sometimes a change of scenery ignites a player.

My point is, players aren't interchangeable.

Taking away that many pieces from an 11-5 team and expecting the same or better results was being overly optimistic.

Harper is old and it was time for him to go, but Sproles and Jenkins doing so well have me questioning how our coaching staff used them.

I don't know if Jenkins finally put it together or what, but it sure looks like the Eagles are putting him in a better position to succeed.

Doing the same thing with the same players you've always had and expecting a different result is the definition of insanity.....Not trying to be a dick, just saying that because we aren't doing too hot yet doesn't mean that we would have any different of a record if we kept Harper/Jenkins/Sproles.....Those guys all played a role for us, Harper and Jenkins especially since they were here for our Super Bowl, but the point is we have not won the Super Bowl since and a big part of that was Harper & Jenkins liability in coverage...I actually applaud Loomis for at least trying to change up the roster to show players that you have to produce on this team or you will not be a part of this team

Sproles I assumed was just money. I understand that this is the NFL and sometimes you have to lose good players because of money. Jenkins was great to watch but pretty much single handedly lost us the 2011 49ers playoff game and was just really bad sometimes. Harper should never have been resigned. Seems like a nice guy and someone you want in your locker room and community, but he just never developed into something special.

This honestly might be true. I think what our defense lost was leadership.
Will Smith
John Vilma
Roman Harper
Jabari Greer
Malcom Jenkins

Thats a lot of leadership/experience out the door

The only one on this list who could play was Greer. There may have been some leadership lost amongst the remaining 4 but they couldn't play. They contributed next to nothing to last year's #4 defense.

What's taking the field now is almost the same unit as last year. The only exceptions are the loss of Greer (hugest blow imo), the loss of John Jenkins (2nd hugest blow imo), and the replacement of Malcolm Jenkins (hot garbage) with what was supposed to be the most prized ball-hawking safety in free agency, Jarius Byrd.
