Anyone have much experience in the Baton Rouge area shopping for firearms at pawn shops? Any shops y'all would recommend or stay away from?

Looking to pick up an inexpensive snub nose revolver for a truck gun. Not looking for a safe queen by any means, just a shooter. Figured I might be able to find a good deal on a used piece (sub $300).

I hate to say it but the Internet has just about ruined the chances of getting a super "deal" on just about anything at a pawn shop. People pawning/selling generally know about what something is worth and the people at the shop can google/GunBroker and know market selling price in 30 seconds. The ultimate effect is probably overall good. It is easier to know what to pay. But the chances of finding a smoking deal on something is rare indeed.

Yeah but with so many options they better compete or die. I went to Bjs and they really didn't seem to want to help me. Prices were only a little better than new.

Deals can still be had though.

I picked up a Tikka 7mm08 with a Leupold Vari X II 3x9x50 for 625 not too long ago. Just got to be vigilant and not afraid to stop often and at as many as you can stop into.

Picked up a 3" Ladysmith model 65 at Davis Pawn in Baker about 2 years ago for $350. They had no idea what it was worth. The tag said $395 and I was walking out the door to go get my wallet to buy it. The guy in the store thought I was leaving and said he would go down to $350 cash. My one and only pawn deal of the century.
