"You never judge or evaluate a program based on one game or one season," Foley told "Open Mike" on 790 The Game in Orlando. "That's just not how we do things here. We're going to evaluate where we're headed -- where the players are, how is recruiting going, what type of staff we have -- (and) are we better?

"That's going to be plain for all of us to see, but it's also going to be played out over the course of 11 games and we'll see where we are when we get to the end of the season." (Florida's AD on Wil Muschamp's performance with the Gators)
Implies even hard decisions can be on the table.

I'm setting this out here because instead of death by 1000 cuts, as is our preferred Rant style, it would be nice to have confidence that our own LSU AD, Mr. Joe Alleva, would do something likewise with CLM & Co. at the end of this season. Then, if we were sure this would be done objectively, the rest of the season might be more enjoyable.

Will Alleva really have to earn his paycheck by hiring another football coach before he leaves.
Alleva probably needs to thank Miles for not having to make that decision anytime soon.

The real dilemma with proposing a coaching change is you're not just looking for a guy to come in and "do well". If you were to fire Les, the requirements would be for a guy to come in and win the toughest conference in the country, consistently beat Alabama/Saban(which nobody else can do either), and win a NC in the next 3-4 years. That's what the fans are clamoring for, and anything else would probably be viewed as a failure.

So with that in mind, the pool of applicants who you feel really good about getting that done is pretty damn small, and probably unrealistic. So who do you target, and how to get them considering they are all probably entrenched in high profile, high paying jobs currently?

I don't know, but for all the negatives you're suggesting about coming into the SEC, these are also positives in the eyes of certain potential great coaches. I don't think LSU reaches success by stealing somebody else's great coach - even if the legendary Nick Saban came back to LSU (which I am in no way suggesting I'd like), he would likely not hit the heights of his own legend at Bama.

I believe outside the box thinking - not just the usual coaching suspects list of tired names - is what needs to be considered for any future successful LSU HC.

If anybody can remember or cares to admit the truth, when Nick Saban was first hired at LSU, the first two thoughts were probably something like: 1) Nick Who? and 2) Dinardo and LSU beat him in the Indy Bowl, what kind of choice is he?

He was what I'd call an "outside the box" hire who succeeded. But that was back then.

Mr. Joe Alleva

He's too busy negotiating neutral site games so LSU can continue losing home games.

I'm not opposed to Miles leaving, but it scares me that Alleva would be the one hiring for the new coach.

Florida has lost 8 of its last 10 games, including home games to Vanderbilt (by 17) and Georgia Southern (who was 6-4 even though Florida was the only FBS school they played all year). Floridas 2 wins were home games vs Eastern Michigan and a triple OT win over Kentucky.

LSU has lost 8 games in the last 4 seasons combined.

with that in mind, anyone care to explain why you're over here pretending as if Miles and Muschamp are essentially the same?

has your hatred of him really made you this unhinged? i would ask how many of you would rather have jerry sandusky for a HC but I actually doubt that I want to see your answer.
