The lionfish are invasive, right? Are they any good to eat?

I had heard they are good to eat but not sure...OP you eat them?

Lionfish are very good to eat. It is a very white flaky meat; just a PITA to deal with them

whats the large fish you have underneath all the lions? are they difficult to clean or just hard to handle because of the spines?

That's a 20lb African Pompano.

They're just hard to mess with because of all of the spines. Clean easily if not for that

I wonder if you could use some kitchen shears to cut away all the spines before cleaning? Seems like that would take most of the danger away. I know they can leave a nasty sting.

yeah a lot of people use cutting pliers or something to snip the spines off before dealing with them
