Why does Apple only ship about 20 iPhone 6's to local stores?

Went to a couple stores in Baton Rouge today to upgrade to a 6. Nobody has them and says that when they do get a shipment in, it's only about 20 at a time.

Why wouldn't Apple ship out in bulk quantities if they know how many people want them?

Think about how many stores are getting these phones and multiply that by 20.

How fast do you think they can make them and ship them from China?

Can only make so many. There are 1000s of att stores just in Louisiana alone. So you multiply that by 20 phones at a time and that a ridiculous amount of phones being made at once

It also helps them when there is a shortage. They seem more in demand and people are in a frenzy to get them.

20 phones per store a day. 10,000+ stores. 200,000 phones a day.

I'd say they are shipping in bulk.

Because if everyone had an iPhone 6 no one would want one.

It's an old marketing trick to help create a frenzy in order to increase demand.

Toy manufacturers do this almost every year as well as Microsoft and Sony when they release a new gaming system.

They sold something like 10 million already. they can only make and ship so many per day. They didn't want to build a stockpile of 30 million of these things and have to pay to store them before they were announced while the technology renders them ancient.

Should have preordered. I did it late in the afternoon the first day that was available and got mine at noon on Friday.

To create hype. They could build up a proper inventory with any amount of planning... but they want there to be a shortage to draw in more eventual customers by convincing them this thing is just too bad arse to keep stocked!!!
