I hit this car. Her bumper was hanging out of her lane. I tried to pass and clipped her. We agreed that the only damage was a busted taillight and a scratch on her bumper. So I asked her to just let me pay for it

This is the first quote she sent me and I flipped out. I pointed out that it said new glass and was she trying to say I busted out her window. And other things that I said I wasn't paying

So she sent me a second quote and pics of her car. I told her I didn't trust her second quote either since she'd obviously tried to scam me with the first one. So she told me to figure out what was reasonable

Here's the damage

Your sober life is more of a train wreck than your drunk life was

Buy her a new taillight lense from the dealer and then tell her to frick off!! Those scratches will not affect anything to do with the van other than exterior appearance.

I'd give her $500 and tell her to go frick herself.

Write her a check for $1K. Tell her this it, full and final offer.

In the memo line, put "full and final payment for accident."

Do not write the check to "cash".

So you're not supposed to return something to the shape it was in before you broke it? Good to know

She is probably not repairing it. Pay the $1100 quote and move on.

I have had this same situation and thought they were trying to screw me until I found out he body shops don't "repair" anything these days. If it scratched, dented, bent, etc they replace it. At least they charge to replace it. Basically, you can't get a car fixed in a reputable shop for less than $2000. Of course, if I am minding my business and someone comes along and hits my car, I would want it fixed right and not patched back together.

Sound like she is doing you a favor. If you don't want this favor anymore go through your insurance. Simple as that

Agreed, but that first quote was a scam. 29 hours of labor is way inflated.

Sounds like the shop was gonna split the the deal with her. She is dishonest and so is the shop.

I bet you have some red nail polish just paint her bumper and buy a new taillight.
