The Miles File...My take on our head coach

1) If he falls in love with the character of a player, and thinks that the player is reasonably talented, he will ride that player regardless of the on-field results (or lack of results). It is his man, and he sticks with his man. Many believe this is because Bo did this for him in his days at Michigan, and that may be, but regardless of why, it is his way.
2) He has living room charm with the players and player families that count - big time talent. As such, in most years, he will have more talent and depth than 95% of the teams he faces (Thus the best record in come-from-behind wins in the nation, due to depth in the last 3/8ths of the game, and subpar performance for the first 5/8ths of the games).
3) He has very slow executive processing speed in real-time. He is a slow, but thorough thinker, who is much better at planning and big picture thinking than anything that requires quick on-the-field decision making. Ergo all of the in-game miscues.
4) He has a very different way of talking. It actually makes a lot more sense on paper in print than when listened to audibly. It is quirky, but again, we have to realize that it works for the players and coaches, so those with strong linguistic and standard grammar skills need to just deal with it. It works for those that matter - players, their Moms/Dads and the coaches.
5) He is slow to adapt. When a 5th grade girl realizes that a change is obvious, that is about when Miles will make the change everyone else knew should have been made much earlier. Call it hard-headedness, or whatever you want, but this is the reality in most scenarios. Exceptions do not discount the overwhelming pattern.
6) When also surrounded with strong coaches, his method works really well due to the level of talent and depth his teams have in comparison to their opponents. Recruiting is 95+% of his success formula, and his form of communication is a large part of the formula for his recruiting successes.
7) He is a poker player. He believes that he should never show tendencies and tip his "hat" until he has to. Because he has such talent and depth, it works more often than not, but frustrates the hell out of the fan base who are worn out on the boring formula.
8)He truly knows how to motivate his players. His approachable style makes his players want to light it up for him. He believes in them, and they leverage off of that belief nicely.
9)He is a program coach. He is our coach. Deal with it. After nearly 10 years, there have been few things he has been willing to change in his philosophy.
10) He is a winner. He has the best record in the SEC in his time in the league. He is our winner.
Deal with it. Love it. Love the Tigers. Or shut the eff up and move on.
Tigers.

Hmmm. So you have to love the awful product Miles puts on the field over the actual team.
what a joke.

So basically you're saying that nothing is going to change, so get over it. Miles is not bigger than LSU. He didn't build the program, he just had to oversee it. If not for LSU He would still be at a middle of the road Big 12 school. LSU is supposed to be winning national championships or be in contention. If he isn't man enough to accept that it's time to change then he needs to go. Who wouldn't want to coach here? Miles better get it in gear he is expendable

Ok you lost me here. an any given cycle, Tamu, UF, Aub, UGA, Ole Miss, Bama, UGA have had higher rated classes than LSU. in 2012 we had the 6th ranked class in the sec alone. Your math doesnt add up.

Hires GREAT coaches and Great Recruiters. Feels the heat changes OC and we get the same result. A good Coach Nothing more. Took over the top program in the SEC with 2 SEC Championships and a NC in the previous 5 years and since that time is getting passed up by the rest of the SEC.

After one loss?
I want to see people who think we need a change come up with a reasonable list of coaches available.

He is stubborn as hell, is his main downfall.
Four and a half Offensive coordinators have passed and we see the same thing's repeated regardless.
The plays ran, the fans know the play, the other team knows the play and the damn cheerleaders know the play, too Predictable.
The relentless want to run a play regardless if the defense is lined up to defend it perfectly.
If he calls a run up the middle with an I formation and the defense shows 11 in the box,an option for Les is not an option.

So, Miles has won a national championship, a couple of SEC championships, an additional SEC championship appearance, another appearance in the national championships, has been winning in double digits pretty consistently, loses one game and people want him fired?
Good luck finding any successful coach who wants to come to Baton Rouge. If they're really good (better than Miles), they're already getting paid lots of money and have a sold job where they are. No coach like that would be willing to jump to a program with such a hair trigger.

Problem was the BOS was scared shitless of another archer situation of promoting from within.

Thanks for that post. It demonstrates precisely how dumb the average LSU fan is.
