Wow- who would have thought finding boiled crabs on a Monday would be so tough. Looks like Martinez is closed permanently, Christian Brothers is closed on Monday, and Reno's in Sorrento is closed on Monday and Tuesday. Anyone have any recommendations for seafood places?

Tommys is also closed on Monday. I know growing up in Houma most seafood places are closed on Monday. Have you tried pville produce?

as a side note... what happened to cause such high prices for crabs? This past weekend we got quotes ranging from $45 to $50 a dz for number ones.

Yea it was sold a while back to a fairly young guy. He never made it any better than when the last guy had it and the business just went down. Also the road construction there that has been going on for what seems like two years hurt him as well. Just too damn hard to get in and out of there on that corner.

95% of crabbers take off on Sunday therefore...... no crabs on Monday. They mostly take off because the crab sheds are closed and they dont have a place to sell. At least this is the case on Terrebonne/Lafourche Parish.

I called every seafood shop in Baton Rouge, Port Allen, addis, zachary, baker, and central Monday looking for crabs. I found some smalls at Addis seafood for $10 a dozen, but wasnt driving to Addis for smalls. No one else had any. My wife laughed as I called place after place, refusing to give up. We boiled shrimp.

One theory out there is with the growing population of redfish they are feeding on the baby crabs...

Talked to a boat dock over the labor day weekend and they basically stated its been a horrible year for crabs. They just weren't running this year.

I settled for shrimp instead... turned out awesome with a little refresher guidance from the FDB board and my own little TLC.

Thats my theory too.
long time ago when I was a kid and we would go trawling we were lucky to catch 3-4 dozen. Mid 80s redfish craze came and after that were catching baskets of crabs. Thats just my observation.
