The QB's: Are we trying to put square pegs into round holes?

Jennings and Harris were both read option/shotgun/mobile type QB's in high school, right? Here, they are being asked, for the most part, to get under center and run a pro-style offense. Jennings simply does not look comfortable...it is almost like he needs to be unleashed and allowed to do his thing.
The question is this....if we run one type of scheme offensively, why do we recruit two guys who are equipped to do something totally different? Miles has said he likes the double-threat QB, yet these fellas are not allowed to do what they do best. It all seems to be one major conflict.
So what happens going forward?

Yes IMO.
Not to mention MSU's secondary is their weakest point, giving up something asinine like 500 yards in the air to UAB or some shite.

So miles fault when the offense doesn't perform but when we produce one of te most efficient offenses in SEC history it's gotta be someone else's doing. Ur logic is shite

Jennings started his first SEC game, If he continues to start (I hope not) he will get comfortable under center and start to play better. If harris starts, give him a couple games and he will play well. Jennings is getting plenty of plays in the shotgun.
Note: I think we can line up and run it at defenses the reason it's not working is not because the line is getting gashed, rather teams don't believe we can throw it, so they stack 8-9 in the box and call run blitzes. I remember watching a play on the video screen saturday night. Every lineman TE and FB did their job and got a block, but they had so much in the box we couldn't block everyone, a LB played the run perfectly in the hole and stopped him for a short gain.
If we can't throw the ball we can't run the ball either. Our line is good just not good enough to constantly run against 8-9 in the box after every play. If Jennings/Harris can start to hit passes even when lined up in the I. Especially long pass plays, a team will start to have to keep a Saftey back, so at worst we have 9 in the box. If they play the run than hopefully our TE start to get involved in the offense, so even though you have guys in the box, OLB and CB don't blitz on the snap. If Jennings/Harris start to throw the ball well, you will see our run attack start to do a lot better.

does LSU have better talent than every team in the west besides Bama?
How many years have we had good offenses while he has been here?
What gives? not enough talent? offensive philosophy? coaching?

Harris has the arm talent and pocket presence to be a pro-style QB, but he will need the reps to get comfortable in that role. Jennings does not have the arm talent, but he would succeed in a spread/pistol offense because those are one read offenses for QBs.

2011 was a great offense. We moved the ball at will against everyone except Bama.
2013 was a great offense. Met was a QB could win a game by himself. We had a championship offense, our Defense let us down a lot that season. Keep in mind both of these years we lined up in the I with two TE a lot and we still moved the ball well.
QB play has a lot to do with how good our offense is. In 2011 Lee was playing well, he could hit passes when needed, and didn't make a lot of mistakes. JJ came in and our offense got ALOT worse, only reason we continued to do well is because our defense was strong, and we out powered them every game. In 2013 LSU had a very good offense, from the first game till the Ark game, we moved it at will. Bama kept us in check but we still moved it well. Once Mett got hurt, our offense took a major step back.
This is off topic, but look at last year and our defense as well. UGA ran all over our D to start the year. By the end of the season, our defense was playing much better. We shut down the strong aTm offense, and played Auburn pretty well. I think our D will be much better by seasons end.

I've been saying this since 2009. If Miles is determined to use running QB's, then why doesn't he put them in a system that allows them to utilize their ability and be successful. Putting a mobile QB in an I formation with 2 TE's negates the benefit of a running QB.

How isn't it Miles' fault? He obviously has his finger prints all over this offense and refuses to change it whatsoever. Mett, OBJ and Jarvis bailed him so many times last year it was ridiculous.

match up better against Auburn & A&M oline...not a good matchup against Arky and bamas lines though

You point out 2011 and 2013 (you can add 2006 and 2007 to that list as well) as the great offensive years under miles. Those were great offense because they were being run by QBs that fit the system that miles wants to run.

great?? no. We had a lot of short fields thanks to turnovers and TM7

and some bad teams in the west

Yep Agree

Most certainly. That's a huge problem.

we scored a lot of points that year. It was effective enough to win, in all of our games but Bama. If LSU has a great defense like it almost always does (this year excluded) than we don't need a great offense, we need one good enough to win behind a strong defense.
2012 wasn't a bad offense, when Mett was on our offense was on.
LSU will never have a top notch offense, but it will be good enough to make us a contender. Look at the championship years, we won on our defense and enough offense to win.

Which makes our QB recruiting all the more confusing.

Another thing just because a player is listed as a dual threat QB doesn't mean they are a true dual threat. Look at Winston for example, this guy was listed as a dual threat QB, but at FSU he leans on his arm skills and not his legs. I don't believe Harris or Jennings are players who lean on their legs. Both players are QBs who can throw and run but when having to decide what to do they will lean to throwing it.
