He's known as one of the best at making adjustments at halftime and he did absolutely nothing. Not to mention the appaling lack of not substituting when we were getting gashed. Every coach needs to be held accountable. Not just miles, but also cam and chief.

one of the few critical posts I completely agree with.

linebackers are supposed to be his specialty, and its as if we don't even have any. not to mention he hand picked Haley for the DL, and, so far, this is the worst line I've seen since our run began almost 15 years ago. maybe its pure attrition, but it still seems awful even when you consider that.

I'll agree and disagree.

I'll disagree with the substitution point. If TF Davon Godchaux is starting, that tells me the other linemen aren't good.

Also disagree with the adjustment part. We were simply getting manhandled. I know that's strange to say because it hasn't haplened in forever, but there aren't adjustments to make when you're outgunned.

I will say however he deserves blame for the trend of late game collapses our defense has had under him at times. His linebackers don't seem to look physical at all.

#31 and #26 are huge weak spots on the defense. Teams either will run right at Welter and presumably get 6 yards or head straight into the second level.

Or they attack Martin at the Safety spot because he seems to be really out of position most plays.

I'm praying this is an anomaly like Auburn was in 2010. That was a good defense, and Auburn ran through it like paper.

Until the middle of the defense gets sured up the Tigers will have a lot of games like Saturday. Think about the run Dak had straight up the gut. There was nobody there to pop him in the mouth. Just a large area of green grass.

Since the departure of Kevin Minter this team has lacked that force up the middle. Beckwith or Garret have to be inserted just for physicality reasons alone.

Dak certainly reminded me a lot of Cam in 2010.

This is entirely false. People who want to blame Chavis or Cam are grasping. Chavis' Mustang D is designed to blitz 3rd down teams that do not have 5 WR spread sideline to sideline and a spread option 230 lb 4.5 QB in an empty backfield. Cam wants to run the same game plan as MSST, not pound the rock between tackles right at a 233 lb LB. 3, 4, 5 WR shotgun sets won the 4th qtr at Wisky and was how BH ran and passed for 2 scores in 28 seconds. What might have been.

Welter couldn't find the ball on a few occasions and the play was ran where he was a half second before he moved to a fake hand off. On the big back breaker run for a TD by the QB in the second half he was lined up on the line between the right DE and the tackle. No one was behind the linemen. The QB obviously saw this and in his exuberence ran right up the middle untouched.

This quote by Prescott bothered me, because I've seen variations of this comment every year.

Prescott on his game prep, "I pretty much knew everything they were coming with before the snap of the ball, so it paid off."

On the surface it looks like our defense may be predictable and easy to read. Chavis may just be doing the best with what he's got. If you're getting physically beaten, there probably just isn't much you can do.

But then again, it's part of his job to recruit, strengthen, and coach players that won't get physically beaten.

I did see Chief and other coaches running through the gate at the northwest portal after halftime.

It seemed like they were late getting back upstairs.

Dak saw some grazing opportunities

Agree. 3rd and 3 touchdown, 3 and 7 touchdown, 3rd and 11 touchdown. No excuse. Poor tackling, arm tackling are all on whatever preparation they are doing. ULM and SHSU don't count period. Never did. And neither does New Mexico State.

Agreed. I have also seen numerous quotes about how predictable Chavis' plan is.

Chief ain't all he is cracked up to be. Very predictable defense. He needs 11 All Americans to win... He gets paid to adjust and he just doesn't do that well.

Keep in mind he was run out of Tennessee. Is Chief a bad DC? No. But, is he really top notch? No.

There are probably 50 plus guys in the NFL or at other colleges that are better.

Don't even start with the stat bullshite. It pays to have Mr. Pound it in b/w the tackles as our offensive genius every year. Shorten game, less snaps equals better total yard categories.

What State did to Big Chief's defense was download embarrassing.

yes I agree wholeheartedly. That whole loss was on the coaches.

And it's not just a gameplan, LSU has lost it's identity. Where is that opportunistic defense? Where is that power run game that bulldozed everybody?

Right now, the talent is in the younger guys. Sure Mills is sometimes out of place, but he's the best player in the secondary. I won't bag on White, but let's just say he is not the best. Kwon is good, Hunter is good, not great, but good. Rasco is servicable.

The talent is in the younger players though IMO. Take our lumps with the younger guys this year, and come back experienced, and loaded. Hopefully we can get Valentine up to snuff. I like LaCouture, but he is average. I think gettinv Valentine on the field, and Godchaux splitting with Lac, would make us stronger up front. Valentine could occupy two defenders and let Hunter get to the QB, and let Beckwith, Debo, Duke, Kwon, etc create pressure.

Yes, I know what I'm saying is crazy, but we stank y'all. We look horrible on both sides of the ball.

On offense, Harris and Fournette. More Dupre which means more 4 wide. Shotgun, spread em out, even Fournette can sometimes split outside. Get Fournette in one on one matchups in open space by having him come out as a fifth receiving option after the play starts.
We have so many dangerous weapons, and we are playing scared. We are playing old man football. Please open your eyes Les. You are still in control, but you need to change your approach.
