What's the best setup for this? I have a nice gaming PC with plenty of horsepower. I'm a Charter subscriber with 2 x 1920x1080 monitors. Thanks in advance...

You are going to need a tv tuner adapter/card/pvr

Do you have a charter cable box? I would assume so for HD... If so, easiest thing would be HDMI from box to monitor, and that's it. Otherwise, you'll need a TV tuner.

Sadly, these monitors are old and don't have HDMI ports. I've been meaning to upgrade to faster monitors anyway and now might be a good time.

DVI with HDCP will work. If you want to use your PC as the source, one of the HD HomeRun models is the way to go for a tuner. If you have Windows Media Center, you have a free DVR that even supports CableCard. If not, XBMC is free and supports unencrypted channels.

Perhaps surprisingly, video cards can pass audio over DVI. I believe AMD used to require a special adapter, but I can say for a fact that the GTX660 in my gaming machine passes audio to my AVR using a plain DVI->HDMI cable, which is pretty sweet because of the stupid, inflexible behavior it exhibits during the boot sequence when using both its DisplayPort and HDMI port. I need DisplayPort to be the primary, but it defaulted to HDMI when both were connected. Switching to DVI kept DisplayPort the default, and thankfully, it passes audio, or I would've been back at square one trying to get 5.1 PCM audio to my AVR. (My MB doesn't support DDLIve or DTS Connect, and I will never buy another sound card or use analog audio.)

Slingbox should do that. Then you can watch it on your monitor, phone and anything else with an Internet connection.
