So, tate will likely be back after the bye for them.

Someone already has tate, and I currently hold West. He did well for me last week. However, moving forward, is any back worth holding onto?

When tate comes back, is he going to be the man?

I have heard some say that Crowell seems to be the more talented of the backs. Do people think he will be the main carrier in a few weeks?

Or is West, the one who carried the load last week, going to be the one?

Or are all three going to be interchangeable and none will be a useful fantasy play? The browns do like to run the ball and have done so well the last two weeks. Ideas?

Im starting West this week over Chris Johnson, but I don't know what I'm going to do in the future.

I have West also but am sitting him this week vs the Ravens. Picked up Khiry on the WW and going to plug him in as my RB2 this week over West and T-Rich.

Going forward, I would expect Tate and West to work in a full RBBC role. (Until Tate gets injured again). I don't see Crowell playing a role at all once Tate comes back, barring injury. Tate is the best running back, currently, out of all three IMO. He looked good in that first game prior to his early injury.

Do you think I should play West vs Baltimore or one of these other guys this week?
.5 PPR
Chris Johnson (Q) vs CHI
Rueben Randle vs HOU
Larry Donnell vs HOU
Donald Brown @ BUF
Allen Hurns (Q) vs IND
Riley Cooper vs WSH

I would start West. I think Riley and Reuben, with even how awful they've been so far (aside from RR's TD last week), are your only other viable options. And I would say Riley has a better chance against WAS than Randle does against HOU.

I'm holding on to Tate and Crowell.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks.

Back to the original topic. I am hoping that West can give me some value until Mark Ingram returns from injury. You just never know with Ben Tate and his health problems.

I think it will be a 65/25/10 split Tate/West/Crowell after the bye.

Tate will get early down work with West spelling on third downs and getting some series. Crowell will be used infrequently for a couple of perhaps short yardage situations.

Tate is the most talented back running the ball. If he can stay healthy I think he will do well rushing. I do not think he will get a lot of receptions maybe 20-25 this year, but I do expect him to average close to if not above 5 ypc.

He is more athletic and knows the system better than Crowell. If he is fully healthy (big if), then he is the best back on the roster in terms of running.

In terms of running, no.

But you're absolutely right on the splits going forward. He's got the coaching staff's trust, and that's the most important thing.

In terms of running in this scheme, yes. Tate is just as explosive if not more so than Crowell, much better in open space and faster than Crowell so can actually break off the homerun type plays. Tate's decision making and vision in a zone blocking scheme is excellent. The only thing that holds him back is health.

Crowell is a good running back (god knows he has enough fanboys), but he is a rookie and Tate is better. Tate will maintain early down lead back duties if healthy.

I understand the trust issue with the coaches, but the simple fact is players are getting thrown into games earlier and earlier.

Five years ago receivers often took a year to learn a system. QBs could sit on the bench for a year or two before taking over.

Now how many first round receivers are jumping right in?

I would venture to guess that pure running Crowell is the best athlete of the bunch. And interestingly, the coaches have praised his behavior at times, whereas they have said previously that they were a bit disappointed in west.

Given the fact that there is more pressure than ever on coaches, and I see coaches getting players out there earlier and earlier, is Crowell a decent hold and see for a bit?

I would guess he could be picked up after the bye however, unless he goes off this next game...

ETA: So, dissenting opinions on who the best athlete is?

Crowell is only relevant if Tate is out for an extended period of time. Even if Tate is out Crowell will split carries with West.

40 Vert Broad Bench
Tate 4.34 40.5 124" 26
Crow 4.57 38 117" 23

Tate is the better athlete, but Wiseguy believes Crowell is the better pure runner. I disagree at this stage. Tate won the starting job handily during preseason and training camp and the coaches trust him.
