I searched but couldn't find anything. For those that missed it Skull Island was announced at Comic-Con and is a King Kong reboot and origin story slated for fall 2016

LINK

quote:

Legendary would go on to describe the film as “based on the famed Skull Island, the cinematic origins of another classic beast King Kong,” confirming that they had provided Legendary the chance to reboot the iconic monster just as they had with Godzilla.

A couple days ago they cast Tom Hiddleston and announced that Vogt-Roberts would direct

LINK

quote:

Vogt-Roberts, for those not familiar, broke out as a director last year, with his indie dramedy The Kings of Summer; in addition to Skull Island, Vogt-Roberts is lined up to direct the developing Metal Gear Solid movie (after the King Kong origins film, that is).

quote:

the bigger news of the day is that Tom Hiddleston will be starring in Skull Island, presumably as an adventurer – or something like that – who finds his way onto (as Legendary’s official press release puts it) “this mysterious and dangerous place” where Kong, dinosaurs, and other giant creatures reside.

I'm very excited, particularly because of the implications

quote:

The project has a script draft penned by Max Borenstein, who also wrote Legendary’s Godzilla reboot

quote:

With Legendary now entrusted with both King Kong and Godzilla, speculation concerning a potential face-off between the two is inevitable.

Please God, make this happen I love the original and just bought it on blu ray

I liked the one in 2006. I felt like Pete Jackson captured the ape/chick relationship well. There were some things that I hated.

I hope this leads to a Godzilla vs King Kong movie.

I've only seen bits and pieces of the Jackson King Kong and that wasn't until a few months ago.

I hope that King Kong is way bigger than that one was.

I think the 2006 film was pretty solid. Silly to remake. Although I am still traumatized by that giant slug that ate the cook.

PJ's King Kong reboot was awesome IMO. A little long obviously, but still great.

Based on sizes alone from the recent movies, King Kong would be a snack for the new Godzilla.

I thought Jackson's king kong was pretty good. I always enjoyed the Skull Island parts of king kong better than the new york parts, anyway.

overall i liked it as well. my complaints were that it was too long and that a lot of the action on skull island seemed like it was taken straight out of jurassic park. they should have edited out at least 30 minutes of footage. jackson absolutely nailed the interactions between kong and the naomi watts and the action in NYC was awesome.

i feel oppositely, i think they spent way too much time focusing on the ship's crew on skull island

I agree with all of that.

I was also pleased with Jack Black.
