How do I obtain a background check?

I'm sure this is common knowledge to many, but it's not to me. I'm hiring a part time caregiver for my son. I have had a couple of applicants that seem decent, but I want to make sure I'm not hiring a pedophile or degenerate of any manner. I've done the basic google/fb search. But, how can I make sure the person I hire is safe? TIA

I guess it's public record, you might not need her permission.

Eta: I do know you can purchase it. I did a bunch as an Army recruiter and there were always people in there getting them. Whether it was for them or if they had a release I don't know.

Yeah, just sprinkle some crack on the prospective employee and they'll take care of the background check for you

Just so you know, that background check isn't worth a crap. The results depend on two things.
1. If the arrest/charge was placed in a national database
2. If not in a national database, it had to have happened in that parish/county.
So, if she was arrested in say Orleans Parish for something, it might not show up in a background check from Jefferson Parish.

New Orleans uses motions and it is easy enough to have her run through both motions and aarms for Jefferson parish.
