Poor timber rattlers don't stand a chance with you guys!

You lucky basttards with all these great finds! I'd kill for a good, convenient spot to catch snakes. When I was a kid in da Parish, there were so many spots around the house you could catch a good variety. I hit the woods around the swamp by my house in Slidell, and it's just dead except for the occasional water snake or black racer. I don't know of any decent places where I can just park my car, go catch some snakes, and still have a car when I come back.

Usually if there are snakes in an area there are not people prone to stealing vehicles.

The first spots I'd want to hit within reasonable driving distance from my house are along Chef Highway in New Orleans East. Ain't no way in hell I'm leaving a Porsche parked on side the road in the East.

Husband checked out an area around there recently because he heard they had Canebrakes there. As soon as he found somebody's marijuana garden hidden back there, he high-tailed out of there. I was honestly less worried about the snakes on that trip.

While I was growing up in St. Bernard, my dad was NOPD in the East. He used to catch a LOT of Canebrakes. Every time they cut the grass at the shooting range on Chef Hwy., they'd be calling him to come catch some. He traded a huge Canebrake to the snake farm for our first pet alligator. He also caught hognoses in the East, which we never saw in Chalmette. Those were like the Holy Grail when we were kids - well those, and milk snakes.
