Tulane plays @ Duke on Saturday at 11:30 AM. I think the Wave is going to get crushed, not because of a huge talent gap but because of a huge coaching gap. David Cutcliffe is a cerebral coach. His teams do not make silly mistakes. He knows how to work the clock, how to make substitutions, and how to play fundamental football.

In stark contract, CCJ is still learning how to coach and who knows if he will ever figure it out. Look for Tulane to burn its timeouts in the 1st quarter, have at least one blocked punt or blocked field goal, get 12 men in the huddle penalties, etc.

Prediction: Duke 42, Tulane 28

Duke won the ACC coastal last year, they are more talented than Tulane. Add the fact that they play disciplined ball, and you're right.

But they have talent.

60 vs 53 isn't a huge age gap.

Duke has more talent, but Tulane's talent is sufficient v Duke and AAC teams to give us a chance (it's not like it was under Toledo).
We just make too many mistakes and we're botching the kicking game this year. They make very few mistakes.

CJ sure takes a lot of shite for a guy who has done as good a job as he has.

Duke doesnt have a talent advantage. They have an experience advantage. Just glancing at Phil Steele, this is a very mature Duke FB team.

Dukies 38
Greenies 21 for a push

They have more talent, better coach, and are at home. Duke easily wins this one.

CJ has a 7-6 season with a bowl loss to ULL under his belt. It's year 3; time to see results.

Take a look at the 10 years before he got here. Take a look at the mess Toledo left him. 7-6 in year 2 is a good start.

You've got to be kidding me. You are delusional if you don't think a 7-5 season at Tulane last year was an excellent job.

Amen

All this guy has to do is have 2-3 winning seasons and recruit within a 30 minute drive of school.

For Tulane, that is an incredible season.

I am still impressed they beat East Carolina- a VERY good football team.

I don't see more than 3 or 4 wins this year.

But give CJ at LEAST another year (after this one) before saying he's not the right guy for the Wave.

Not an incredible season by any measure, but it was decent. We hadn't had a decent season in 10 years.

New to the board, but being a tulane and lsu fan, i gotta say cj does a great job! Yea, he is new to coaching and makes his mistakes, but i dont remember too many coaches knocking down the door to coach tulane. They got a long way to go, but he is laying down a great foundation for the future. Stop being so critical of the guy and be patient. Btw, im a realist, tulane will never be a elite program like lsu and i wish tulane fans would realize this, but if they can compete with the top teams in the AAC like cincy, east carolina, and UCF, them im def good with that.

For Tulane, a winning season is incredible.

Doing it consistently would be even more incredible.

The last back-to-back non-losing seasons was in the 90's/
