"France has drafted a law aimed at stopping aspiring jihadists from travelling, which includes a ban on foreign travel for up to six months for individuals suspected of radicalisation and gives the authorities the power to confiscate and invalidate their passports temporarily"
Wouldn't it be better to prevent them from coming back, instead of leaving?

It would be better if they just removed their brains from their skulls via bullet.
Why take a chance, has any good ever come from an aspiring jihadist?

Agreed, that's prevention we can all live with.

So we put em in jail, fueling their hatred even more, then wait for a Soldier to be captured and swap, right? Vol's solution seems easier.

This presumes that they will make mischief when they come back home. During the Arab Spring, there were stories of Egyptian-Americans and Libyan-Americans going abroad to participate in their nations respective revolutions, and after Mubarak and Gaddafi were overthrown, they came back home and resumed their lives as ordinary law-abiding Americans. For years, the U.S. also turned a blind eye to NORAID, the fund-raising arm of the IRA, and as long as the IRA wasn't attacking Americans, we didn't get a damn. Personally, I don't care if folks want to go abroad and wage jihad as long as they don't do it when they come back home.
On the other hand, there is a precedent for this sort of action being taken in Europe with soccer hooligans not being allowed to leave the British isle whenever a British soccer team is playing on the continent.

Were any of them radicalized jihadists?

This is the kind of law that some in Washington would like to use against the Tea Party.

Can you imagine the PT if a member of the Tea Party actually commits an act of terrorism?

What does that mean? They weren't pacifists if that's what you mean, and I remember one of the Libyan-Americans buying $3000 worth of weapons and saying that he wasn't coming home until either Gaddafi was in a body bag or he was.

that doesn't sound very pacifist like to me

They need to machine gun em down and film it.
Or starve some lions for a week, and throw them in the den. They may not be afraid to die, but everyone feels pain.

As long as Americans aren't attacking American troops or American citizens abroad, I couldn't care less what they do when they leave the country. John Walker Lindh was okay until 9/11. After that, as soon as he found out the U.S. was enetering the conflict in Afghanistan, he had an obligation to come back home or at leave the war zone.

I thought this board established that all Muslims are radical jihadists.

Would save them a lot of time and effort. Besides, like you said, "Why take a chance?"

Absolutely nothing could go wrong with that idea.
