If you never found your bag, this is where it went.
America's Only Lost Luggage Store
And they claim to be more than just a flea market or pawn shop.

America's Only Lost Luggage Store
quote:
Although over 99.5% of domestic airline’s checked backs are picked up at the baggage carousel, lost luggage is an unfortunate part of airline travel. The airlines conduct an extensive three-month tracing process with the remaining .5% of unclaimed bags in an effort to reunite them with their owners, resulting in an astonishingly small fraction of a percent of bags that are ultimately orphaned. Claims are paid on these remaining lost bags and only then do the airlines sell the remaining unclaimed baggage property to Unclaimed Baggage Center. These purchasing agreements provide an important service to the airlines by giving a second life to unclaimed items.
And they claim to be more than just a flea market or pawn shop.

The lost bags arrive by the tractor-trailer load at our processing facility to be sorted and priced. Our experienced staff sorts out only the best items for the retail floor. Clothes are dry-cleaned and laundered, fine jewelry is cleaned and appraised, and all electronic equipment is tested and cleared of personal data. Of the remaining items about half are thrown away and the other half are donated through our Reclaimed for Good program, helping people around the world. Our goal is to sell, donate, recycle and repurpose everything we can, finding a new home for what was once lost.

I have. You can find some good items. Travelers generally carry nice and well taken care of items.

My mom and aunt go every year for some reason. Seems pretty spinster to me.

Wife wants to go. I'm just looking for a glimmer of hope that it won't suck.

We've stopped in there a couple times to look around. Last time was a few years ago when my son was playing in a baseball tourney in Scottsboro and we had to kill time between games.
The vast majority of the stuff was absolute junk but there was some alright electronics and things like that. Mostly I was glad to find an air conditioned place that was able to keep a dozen 10&11 year olds occupied for a couple hours.

You get to have your nightmares haunted by this guy:

Unless you're the coach of a youth baseball team that's got about 4 hours to kill between it's next game and your desperate to find somewhere to keep the boys occupied and cool.... Yes, it will suck.

I went to camp in North Alabama and the counselors would take a trip over to Scottsboro every summer.

I live/work less than an hour from there. It's not quite as good as it used to be. They have a lot of shite.

It is hit or miss. You can find some decent items from time to time but i wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go there.

This, now they look up the prices for most of the items online and are pretty much non-negotiable. Found some kite surfing gear there and thought I could get it for a steal (being 6 hrs from the ocean) but it was priced above market value and they wouldn't budge on price.

I have stopped a few times on my way out to Guntersville/Wheeler/Wilson and such. It's a shithole. Anything worth buying is priced way too high. Just use eBay if you want garbage like that.

As others have said, it used to be awesome, even for guys. Nowadays it only has overpriced used clothes and electronic junk.
If you've seen the 80's classic Labrynth - it has the Hoggle puppet, though.

before ebay, my parents would go there once a year ... found some really good deals on stuff ... bought me a london fog rain coat for next to nothing, though i've heard what everyone else has been saying ... not much there anymore ...
