The Newest Town in College Football: Mobile, AL

Oh well, there is always next year since South isn't afraid to play big schools. Anyways, Mobile is the center of the remarkable talent that is produced along the gulf coast and the population responds well to a new team in the area.
Not that you weren't before, but until Saturday, Alabama's Port City had not had its own college football team with this kind of attraction. Sure, Alabama and Auburn fans are everywhere. There are smatterings of LSU, Southern Miss, and even Mississippi State -- a team that was in town Saturday. The Bulldogs were there to play South Alabama.

South Alabama might be the new kid on the block, but it is far from a one-hit wonder.

I'm sure they'll do well, alabama loves a winner if they can ever win. And Ladd Peebles isn't a bad little stadium.

GO JAGS
Hopefully they will eventually be able to keep the top recruits in that area from going to UA, AU, FSU, UF, UGA, etc.

As for the game, State took care of the Jags 35-3. But South Alabama came away with a win of sorts -- its fans want to come back for every game.

Yeah, South needs a stadium on campus. I doubt that's in the budget anytime soon, though. South has other problems right now.

Its two blocks from McDonald Avenue...I could see the City investing in the Virginia Ave corridor to improve the area for the visitors and tailgaters.

I could see it happen in the next 5-10 once the city is in full flourish. Ladd needs to be updated for replaced.

the location is bad, but the stadium itself is nice. Just look at ben hill griffin....it's in gainesville, but that isn't the stadiums fault.

The stadium is like a 20 minute drive from the university. That sucks.

Do that many students actually live on campus now?
It's still primarily a commuter school, no?

It is, but I just think there are advantages to having a stadium on/near campus. It allows for better tailgating, recruits like it, and it can really boost business in the areas surrounding campus on gameday.
I may be wrong, but that's my line of thought.
