After eating a meal I usually have a hankering for some sugary goodness. But sadly few restaurants have desserts that I like.

Seems all the shots are trying to one up one another with fancy weird dessert dishes. It's all about presentation and using unusual ingredients.

But whatever happened to just some good old-fashioned cake. Like freaking Duncan Hines with Duncan Hines icing. Even Betty Crocker will do. But no, they have to use this organic crap that ends up tasting like shite. Give me the processed stuff and give it to me now.

Or how about some plain old chocolate chip cookies? I mean really has there ever been a better dessert created than chocolate chip cookies?

Quite honestly I don't want your chocolate molten crap or your chocolate mousse pie where your Keylime pie. I don't want your fancy coconut chocolate eclair. Will your Krispy Kreme doughnut bread pudding. Keep that fresh fruit tray in the back and don't even bother with any fondue heart attack.

Give me some good old-fashioned vanilla cake or chocolate chip cookies. Come on restaurants. Get back to the basics. Give us what we really want.

Sounds like you should stick to Piccadilly.

And Nino's has some killer chocolate chip cookies.

You seem like the most miserable, hard to please person. I've never seen you post anything positive on any board.

Steer clear of Square Root.

My reading abilities are just fine.

Your posting abilities, on the other hand, are abysmal. We get it, you hate Chicago. You don't have to continue letting us all know. You've made it abundantly clear in every other butt-hurt post you've made.

You never add anything happy or positive. It's always about how some restaurant is the worst place in the world and you bashing people for liking it. That or complaining.

I agree 100%. A good homemade, plain chocolate cake. Especially if your dinner was a bit more complicated.

My favorite German restaurant up here in the Midwest has the best strudel ala mode which is perfect after I've worked my arse off enjoying liver dumpling soup, smoked goose and sauerkraut. I deserve something easy and delicious after that ordeal

Maybe it's about getting desserts that you can't easily make yourself or buy at any grocery store bakery

One reason why I like trying desserts at a restaurant. If it's a place known for excellent desserts...I'll order a smaller meal to save room for dessert.

Steak and Ale used to have this bomb arse chocolate chip cake. They would give you a huge slab of it. Damn I miss that cake.

I'm usually to full and never order the dessert unless it's part of a 3/4 course dinner.

Because when I get dessert at a restaurant I want something I can't go buy at the grocery. I want to have something that a pastry chef created
