Switching from AT&T in New Orleans -- Anyone have TMobile experience?

So I've finally figured out AT&T Next and, basically, because I already have the family share plan I get no discounts--just have to pay $32.00/month for a new iPhone.
I'm considering switching, mainly to TMobile or Sprint... Verizon also potential, although Verizon looks more expensive than AT&T.
My wife and I each have an iPhone and use about 3 GB of data per month. We travel, but mainly to Colorado and to Mississippi. What's everyone's experience with these carriers? Or should I just stick with AT&T? I will have to break my contract, but I understand that TMobile and Sprint will pay me to do so.

My dad really enjoys TMobile, says it is great service. Any thoughts?

TMobile has a 1 week test drive they offer.
LINK
And Sprint allows at least 2 weeks to try out their network as well. I would try both and see which one works out better before committing to either company.
You want service to work in the places YOU go to, not what somebody else says. Just my thoughts.

Definitely don't go with Sprint. It's horrible. My mom has T-Mobile and has no complaints.
ETA: I did the T-Mobile test drive and had a good experience with it. Outperformed Sprint pretty much everywhere.

I really wanted to switch to T-Mo...outperformed Sprint everywhere I checked...except my office in the NOLA CBD. No service for T-Mo, 3G for Sprint

Interesting. Might try that. Apparently they are willing to pay your ETF fees and it's a whole lot cheaper too.

I might have to give that week test a go. I'm only a few months into my verizon contract, but I dont remember TMo offering this test run when my contract was up and I was shopping.

I'm looking to do the same thing.
ATT contract ends next month.
Will probably go with Tmobile-zero down, 77/mo and you own the phone at the end of the term.
Sprint- zero down, 70/mo but you are on a lease. no ownership.
Basically paying $168 in monthly installments for phone ownership.
Plus, T-mobile appears to offer better coverage in NOLA.

My Sprint phone has been roaming a lot this week in my office in the CBD. That's never happened before. I normally get 3G

bump
I just visited one of the T-mobile shops here in NOLA. The rep advised me the individual deal that is 70/mo w/unlimited calls, text, date has a caveat.
The date is unlimited, but only the 1st Gig is at 4g. After that, the data is throttled down to 2G. You can pay an extra $10 or so for unlimited 4G.
I've never heard of such a scheme, but that's what he told me.

Why not carry an extra line with no minutes or insurance for 9.99/month and then you'll have a new upgrade available every year? Next is a ripoff.

Not entirely true but yea it kinda sucks

$80 plan includes unlimited LTE

That must be what he was describing.

Is it 5GB not the 1GB the guy told me?
I'm not sure I've ever gone over 3 GB.

Sprint coverage has greatly improved with the introduction of triband phones late last year. Lot of folks are not getting the network improvements because they have older equipment. I have an LG G2, which is triband, and I get LTE just about everywhere in the Metro NO area. Also the HD voice quality is far superior to my old 4s with AT&T.
The iPhone 6 will be first iPhone offered by Sprint that is triband. This will future proof the phone for their Spark network due by mid next year in NO area. The Spark network will offer speeds up to 60Mb, which will be faster than any other provider in the area.
Sprint has a new owner, new CEO and new attitude. I like the direction that Sprint is starting to take. Oh, and Sprint is not planning to throttle anyone on their unlimited plan.

Where do you live? I get LTE in areas I don't frequent. Where I need it, Sprint's coverage is horrible

It's only $60 for unlimited talk, text, and data with 3GB at LTE. I have a plan with 5 lines and we're averaging about $35 per person with 5GB LTE and HotSpot.
I would advise anyone that is thinking of switching to give TMobile a chance and see if the coverage is good. They have so many other cool features. I was in Europe and was able to send/receive text from the USA for free and call for only $.20 if I wanted to. No need to switch sim cards and have your actual phone number work internationally.
Also, if you have great coverage everywhere but one place, just turn on Wi-Fi calling in that one place.
They're also going to start letting you text on a plane using the Wi-Fi.

I did the T-Mobile test drive plan and the phone should get here next week. I'll let everyone know my thoughts after trying it at my home out in River Ridge as well as my office in CBD and Uptown.
I would look at sprint, the problem is that TMobile is just a better deal--I never use more than 3 GB of data, and my wife and I can switch to TMobile for $90..Sprint is $100. (For reference, AT&T is $130 and Verizon $140).

This is true in metro NO not so much in BR. Which is why Sprint gets a lot of hate here and there are conflicting views regarding service.
I'm not holding my breath on Spark by mid next year. They haven't even touched a bunch of sites for the first round yet.

My nexus 5 is triband capable, and my sprint experience is less than ideal in new Orleans. Is spark even live yet in new Orleans?
