I don't know why, but this really, really pissed me off. Roger Bennett loves this country and our squad, and those guys have been working their asses off to try to help soccer grow in this country. Rog claims he's genuinely going to become an American citizen now. There's a reason NBC wanted them. They're extremely likable and fun to listen to and watch. Grant Wahl is just pissed off because people have fallen in love with the Men in Blazers pair. He couldn't take not being the most beloved bald man in the US soccer community.
There are few people who I would be pissed off by someone Twitter beefing with them, but Rog is one of them. I would probably fistfight Grant Wahl right about now. I don't care if that's an overreaction. I feel like someone just slapped my little sister or something.

Every part of me wants to make a Twitter bot that just says douchebag things about Grant Wahl with Grant Wahl repeating as much as possible. If Grant Wahl saw that many Grant Wahl comments about how much of a tool he is, maybe Grant Wahl would try to be less of a tool.
I don't know if he's trying to be the Alexi Lalas of journalists or what, but it was incredibly poor form and reeked of jealousy.

Nah, Alexi has actually broken relevant US Soccer news within the last 5 years. All Wahl has done since his Beckham book is try to run for FIFA Prez and write about it.

I get Alexi talking shite to players (even if I hate it) because they all talk shite on him. I just don't get where this shite came from. I don't even understand why he feels qualified to make that sort of bullshite attack of Rog. What makes him more qualified to discuss soccer than Michael Davies, who is an ultra-successful, rich television producer, and Roger Bennett, who has blown up almost overnight?
Is it because Rog makes the same "Dana Plato" joke a bit too much? I mean, we've all heard it a million times, but maybe Grant is still in mourning over her passing. All I know is that homeboy better check his shite before he gets raged on by a GFOP. Wet Herrera's probably already waiting for him outside his front door.

Coming from someone in the quasi-journalism world, people who label themselves "journalists," for the most part, are very proud of that, especially in this day and age where journalism is dying. And some of those tend to look down on those media who aren't journalistic at all.
Wahl has a bit of that snob attitude to him. It's not rare among "journalists," many of whom have a bit of a stick up their b-hole.
It doesn't negate the good work they do, but it's a dick thing to do/act like. At least Wahl apologized and isn't copping out. Mistakes happen. Just reveals his sense of self superiority. Taking shite too seriously.

it might not really matter, but i thought it was funny he tweeted out a link (with attribution, but not an RT) of a story on cruyff on van gaal. his tweet has more RT+favs than the tweet from the guy who wrote it. i imagine he'd probably be pissed if the tables were turned.

Rog is a journalist though. Look at what he did with the March to Brazil series. Not only was he the brains behind it, he was the one asking questions to get those soundbytes.
