NFL gets first PR win: The "independent" investigation

It's not independent. It's overseen by two owners. It's headed by a man from a law firm that represents the NFL.
But here's a sampling of stories I have seen:
At least USA Today put it in quotation marks like it belongs

My money's on March and Goddell's punishment will be he won't be able to announce names at the draft.

Sad thing is ray rice has his balls locked up by roger so how is ray going to handle his side of conversations w owner and league

if this is considered a win, then they're really screwed.
investigations take time, so it sounds like they're going to ride out the storm, but what if another AP story comes out, one even more damaging...then this will backfire

Schefter was just on Olbermann and said that some owners think that Goodell have been witch hunt by the media, including Olbermann leading the charge.

Well obviously they're banking on people not giving a damn about this in a few months, which if history is any indication, they won't.

Of course they think that. Goodell is their man. They're going to protect him to the extent possible.
