"Heavy late-August rains have damaged crops in the nation’s largest malt-barley producing states, Montana and Idaho. The rains caused much of the states’ barley to sprout in the field, rendering much of it useless for beer making."

Thank goodness we have imported beers.

Bud light 18 pack is $10 right now. I'm good.

That's priced about $15 too high.

And I can get 20 McNuggets for $5, but it's still not worth it.

I think this board is more worried about the hop production.

For the love of God don't let the hops suffer.

I'm afraid they already are-I hear screaming coming from my garage. I might have to go on a rescue mission soon.

Happened before. Will happen again. Hop prices were double a few years back with a lot of varieties nearly impossible to get.

Those were dark days... I remember feeling lucky when you found Cascade or Centennial for $4 an ounce and most of the time there was a 2-4 ounce limit.

European hops like EKG, Hallertau, and Tettnang were almost impossible to find.

Half of my beers use Hallertau, EKG, and Tett. The absence of those would put a hurtin' on my homebrewing.

August 25th. I actually got Bud, but I'm sure Bud Light was similar.

It was the cheapest I'd seen as well. I didn't believe my wife at first, but checked Rouses ad. She wasn't lying.

you laugh, but unless you were OT rich and/or had a connection, 99% of homebrewers and craft brewers weren't brewing IPAs much less DIPAs.

I brewed a shite ton of english ales, brown ales, and stouts in those days.

From the article, it looks like the small brewers were hurt the most. The big guys all have their contracts in place and the small brewers get the leftovers.

I wonder if I could do some legwork for someone like Andrew at Parish and stop by and talk to a local grower who grows the type of hops that Andrew needs. I would do it if it meant more GitM (can't call it GOAT until I taste it). I'm going on the assumption that the hops he's looking for are grown somewhere in the Willamette Valley. I could take the grower a beer to show him what a quality product it is.... They probably already have brokers for that kind of shite...

Still, it would be interesting...
