I need an HD digital antenna to watch football in HD on Sundays. I don't have any experience with antennas, so I am unsure of what type of price I'm looking at for good HD quality.

Suggestions and help needed.

i normally read a lot of reviews and crap, and i also like the DYI plans someone posted on here. but i was in desperation mode sunday and went to best buy (never do) and got their $99 jobby. I was going to use it for the saints game and return it, but i get 56 channels and it hides behind the tv so probably will just keep it. can't remember the name but i think it's the only one bb has at that price. can go outside, attic or inside.

eta: game came in perfectly, unfortunately....

atlanta. i was surprised, because i'm in a heavily wooded area in a gulch.

most are crap but the major networks are as good as any HD cable i've ever seen.

i use roku with a cable sign in for most stuff.

and re: price. i did no shopping. just decided i wanted to watch second half of game at home so ran out just before the game and grabbed it. too lazy to take it back and continue the search.

I bought a cheap RCA brand for less than $30 and it pulls in just about everything in Birmingham. I read some over the air sites that someone here linked where you provide your address, and I have to get an amplifier to pick up ABC and some other random channels for where I'm located, but it pulls in a great HD signal. It was an indoor/outdoor and it is mounted in my attic. But Fox, CBS, and NBC are great quality. I think it is one of those things that depends a great deal on where you live. Obviously Birmingham has hilly terrain and tons of trees, but I'm getting by on a cheap one that does the job. I just wish we had more over the air here. It is the main broadcast stations, CW, and some randoms.

I'm in Birmingham as well and none of the ones I purchased would pick up the ABC signal, and the CBS signal was spotty. I'm down 280 though on Cahaba Valley Rd, so being kind of in a valley is part of the problem.

I made a homemade one and I get all of them without a problem. It's pretty ugly though and the wife won't let me keep it behind the TV in the living room.

My advice is go to Walmart or BB, and start with the cheap ones. If they don't work, take it back and get next cheapest, and so on until you find one that works.

I'm in Vestavia in the Rocky Ridge area. CBS is perfect. I was having issues with NBC on my oldest TV but cutting out a bunch of excess coax seemed to fix it. The newer ones worked fine but this is like an 8-9 year old LCD. I'm probably getting rid of it for a smart tv for the bedroom soon though.
