iPhone 5 battery recall

I've been having battery issues. Today it was at 66% then went to 1% and shut off a few minutes later. I plugged it in and it said 59%
I decided to google and found that some iPhone 5 batteries were recalled for these problems. Check your serial number in the link below. If yours is available for replacement you can take it to an apple store or whatever. There's more info in the link

My wife's phone had the defective battery in it, same as you described. Made an appointment 4:30 last Saturday. They said it would take an hour and a half to replace it. She left it and went shopping then picked it up and made it home right at kickoff. One of my employees experienced the same repair time on a Tuesday night. Apparently everyone is bringing them I for repair. Make sure to set an appointment and prepared to wait.

I bought a new battery on eBay for $4.00. Changed it myself in 2 minutes...

Yeah it's always a wait at the apple store
It says something about cracked screens and mine is cracked. But it's a small crack at the top. I just replaced it a month ago for the second time so I really don't want to again

Note: If your iPhone 5 has any damage such as a cracked screen which impairs the replacement of the battery,

I took the risk of changing out my own battery a couple of weeks ago literally 3 days before the recall was issued.
Thank God I pulled it off.

Yep, I had a feeling this was the case months ago when my battery went to shite.

I dropped my phone in the fricking parking lot ,of the store I was turning my phone into so it could be fixed for this very issue.
My screen shattered.

wish they had this before I dropped crazy cash on a Mophie in London. Battery had gotten so bad it wouldn't even last long enough to take pics in airplane mode.
mine does qualify.

I would recommend learning to change the battery yourself. I have no expertise and changed my battery out a couple of weeks ago watching YouTube videos. It really wasn't that hard. An added bonus is that as part of changing the battery, you also learn how to replace the screen yourself.

I had no idea. I thought it came after an iOS update and was looking to see if the latest version was supposed to fix it because I still haven't installed it
If I'd have known it was an actual battery issue I'd have definitely gotten it replaced because this shite blows

Wow. Now that sucks. You have worse screen luck than me

I have never cracked a screen before this. I think it was a sign

Was it an OEM battery? I haven't had good luck with third party batteries in general. If I was covered under the replacement program, I would wait in line to get them to fix it.

My wife's had a small crack in one of the corners and it wasn't a problem. I'm guessing they just don't want glass flying all over the place when they remove the front.
She's been happy with it so far, like it's a new lease on life. Happy wife, happy wife, I guess.

FML. 30 minutes drive to the Apple Store for my appointment.
"we're out of batteries."

They are going to plug it up and say that you have no problem. My phone is doing the same thing, I think its a bug in iOS 7.1.

I had to go to the Apple store twice because they were out of batteries. On my first visit, they checked my phone and ordered my battery. On my next visit, they changed the battery.
The new battery works great. It used to die at 43%.
